In contrast to my February note on this wine, this bottle was about picture perfect - not tired at all, rather, right in its prime. Satisfying moulin, round with the right degree of tannic-acid structure, good weight, a fine bottle of fine wine. Two mags left to learn from over the next few years.

Initial impression is that it's time to drink up - still good wine, but lacks freshness and pizzaz, that spark you get in a Chermette cru bottling on its upswing. Aim to drink the last bottle this year and get into my mags next year.

Final bottle from 16 originally purchased. Last consumed about a year ago. Surpassed the high point, IMHO, but still quite good. Pretty red fruits, a bit more stewed and mature when compared to the crunchy red fruits originally presented in this bottle years ago. Lovely soil signature, with a solid mid-palate, leading into a fairly long and red+black fruited finish. Drink now IMHO.

Second bottle, kept under condition 2 since about 2017 (see my profile). Mature, with almost fully resolved tannins and nice mature notes. Still some fruit (cherry). a herbal note (rosemary?) in the finish. Better at day three than at day one. Rather nice. 89.

Very good, but needs generous airing time to show properly - shows a bit thin and off-balance early. Serve cool. A good quality red from this venerable appelation, with volume and balance. Lacks the scrumptious factor I discovered a couple of weeks ago in my Thivin Cote de Brouilly from the same vintage. I'll open a 2011 Fleurie Garants next and report further.

15th of 16 bottles, last tasted 18 mos ago. Super tasty, losing a bit of the red-fruited freshness of previous bottles, but showing more savoriness and complexity with bottle age. Drink up, IMHO. Loved these bottles, love the producer.

This was quite good - well past the in-your-face youthful days, not quite into full maturity, imho. There is very good balance and character like you'd imagine in a mix of Bordeaux and mature Chinon (from a ripe year) - no green, but more fruit and roundness than you typically get in cru Bordeaux, together with Bordeaux-like tannins and density on the palate. I fare poorly with flavor descriptors - this tastes like red wine, the good kind.
I vary from Richard.Presser in my assessment of this wine's maturity. Upon opening, it strikes me as slightly rough on the palate, not quite integrated. After a full day open, it's much better and doesn't back off on the third day. So possibly a little upside. But drinking now with a generous decant or slow-ox yields a very good result. A wine for both dining and sipping. It turns out, to my surprise, that I have a mixed case of this and the '11 Garants, plus magnums of both, so I expect to be drinking and reporting on them regularly over the next 2-3 years (longer for the mags).

Color: dark purple. Nose: fresh, with a rosemary-like note and some liquorice. Taste: fresh with fruit of cherries and blackberries, some liquorice. Nice depth. Also with tannins that were a bit harsh and/or bitter. Nevertheless a very good wine. At the third day with a light animal note. This wine tastes more like a northern Rhone than a Burgundy. Might benefit of one or two years in the cellar. 90-91.

Bottle 11 of 16 (I have had 3 bottles of 10 consumed, that were corked or flawed so far). Lovely Bojo, thankfully in perfect condition. Best bottle yet. Nose of black cherry, plum skin, cinnamon, rocks, and light anise. The palate shows off a medium bodied wine with bright acidity and finely grained tannins. Flavors of plum, raspberry and tart red cherry, poured over chalky rocks, with a light charcoal ember note. The finish is long, exciting, and delicious. What a value, this is a fantastic Beaujolais, drinking beautifully now, and should continue through 2025+.

Another bottle from my original lot of 15 btls) that has cork taint. This is my 3rd TCA bottle out of 9 I have opened so far. As I swirl the wine, it does appear to be partially blowing off, and the underlying structure seems solid, but the wine is certainly irreversibly tainted.
Good Beaujolais this. Deep ruby colour. Aromas of smoky bonfire, barbequed game meats, earth, mushrooms and cola. Also, dark fruit and wet slate in the background. Savoury, earthy and dark berried on palate. Red Burgundy-like structure and fruit weight. Good precision, persistent 2011-typical acidity. Not at all rustic, with fine grained tannins. Detailed and relatively complex. Well balanced and quite long, finishing on rocky minerals. Now drinking well but there's plenty of material here for longer term cellaring. Drunk over three evenings, over which it gently and nicely evolved.

Consumed this Cru Beaujolais over 3 days. My 6th of 15 bottles purchased. This bottle had a rather reserved nose of firepit ashes, menthol spice, and wet earth, all cloaked in black and red crunchy fruit. The palate shows off nice acidity, but this bottle lacks excitement, even over a 3 day evolution. Still, it has nice stuffing, and some bottles so far have been better than others. Drink now through 2025 or so. I like this wine alot.

I had a previous bottle that was corked. This bottle is not corked, but also not perfect. Seems to be muted, in comparison to my best bottles so far. Underlying structure seems solid, but the wine is tainted, maybe from heat?

Casual session at B&B. Pop and poured. Drank over 2 hours. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, purplish ruby colour. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of charred oak, floral scents, dark earth and a mix of red and black fruits. Developing. On the palate, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12.5%), low tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of black cherries, blackberry, dark red cherries, earth, minerality, and cinnamon spice. Medium+ finish. Outstanding quality Beaujolais cru but somehow did not perform as well as the previous 2 times I have had it. But still lovely complex nose and good fruit on the palate. Some steminess emerged with air. Enjoy now, and over the next 3-4 years.

This wine was chosen as the sole non-Pinot-Noir, in a multi-day, blind Pinot tasting. Showed beautiful structure, nicely concentrated red berry fruit, coupled with earthy minerality and a med+, fruit filled finish. Very good acidity, nicely structured, well balanced for the long haul. Will drink well through 2025. Delicious.

Opened a few days ago, enjoyed most of the bottle but the TN is from today. The nose shows nice depth with red raspberry and deep cherry fruit, varnish notes, wet wax, spice, and soil tones. The palate is med+ in body, quite tart and distinct, with deep raspberry and cherry fruit flavors, supported by tense spice, energetic acidity, and a med+ finish that exudes quality and breed. This is a fantastic wine, I am glad I have a whole case in the cellar. Drinking beautifully now, but will improve in the bottle through 2020 and drink well through 2025+.

Opened yesterday evening for a tasting. This note is from one day later. Beautiful aromas of rose petals, raspberries, moist earth, and spices. The palate shows off rich but high-pitched raspberry fruit, with complexity added by flavors of tar, strawberry, lipstick, and a nice spiciness. There is med+ acidity, med tannins giving an astringent mouthfeel, and a med+ finish echoing the flavors from the palate (raspberry and rocks). This really nice quality wine took a day to start to open up, but it is showing so nicely now. It is delicious in it's youth, but will continue to improve in bottle for the next 3-5 years, and will drink well through 2028 or so, IMHO.

Decanted 2 hr. Transparent purple. Reticent gamay nose with a hint of deep blueberry and a bit of sous bois underneath. Medium bodied with decent acidity. That gamay hint of bubblegum, blueberry/blackberry, leaves and a hint of bark. MOderate tannins. Long finish with fruit and earth. Just hints at what's to come. Should have let this sleep.

Opened 2 days ago, had a few glasses (it was pretty tight), placed it under cork back in the cellar, TN is from today. Super delicious Beaujolais. Deep, perfectly ripe red fruit, great acidity, obvious minerality, nice complexity...and for $22. Why would you need to spend more? This is an insane QPR, I purchased a case, this is my first bottle. I'm kinda excited about that. Will continue to improve through 2018+ and drink well through 2025+.

A Lighter Session (Extra Space): Slow-oxed in bottle for about an hour+ before drinking. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, purple colour. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of charred oak, floral scents, and a mix of red and black fruits. Developing nose. Very nice and complex. On the palate, high acidity, medium- alcohol, low tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of red cherries, raspberry, black cherries, blackberry, earth, minerality, and cinnamon spice. Medium+ finish. One of the deepest and most complex Beaujolais Cru I have drank so far. Outstanding quality. Can drink now with air, but has the potential to improve over the next 5 years.

Weekend in Cleveland; 4/4/2014-4/8/2014: Tasted over 2 days at a weekend tasting event. This Beaujolais was firm and tight to the chest right out of the gates. Not a lot of takers. As the evening wound down, it was left in a decanter overnite at room temp. The next day, this wine has blossomed into something quite special, showing beautiful purity of sappy red fruit, lovely soil undertones, and a streak of med+ acidity making this wine so fresh and alive. Although it can be drunk now, it will improve in bottle through 2019, and drink well through 2030 or so. I would say to hold it a few more years for the minerality and fruit to better integrate and unwind. A very nice bottle.

(S). A brighter purple - less moroon colour. Much more dusty on the nose than the Brouilly, musty too, massively stemmy - which is unpleasant. More fruit sweetness on the palate than the Brouilly - which is nice, and the acidity, astringency and general balance is good. It is easier and less austere on the palate than the Brouilly. Better on the nose than the palate though, with some nice dark fruit. Does have that ferrous flavour of MaV on the palate.

This may be starting to close down. Nevertheless excellent, deep aromas of dark berries, dried rose, and bramble. Medium bodied and structured, with firm acidity and finishing tannin to its wild berries, spice, and vivid florals. Let this one rest for awhile. Hold.

Great nose - deep and rich, hints at the power of a good Moulin-a-Vent. I found the wine a little disappointing on the palate, at least compared to the stellar 2010. It was just a little quick to disappear and lacked the acidity that I loved so much in 2010. Still a great wine and a great value.

A Saturday of 2012 Wines: Tasted from two tank sample bottles, one just opened, one that had been open six days. That same bright acid and purity of flavors as the other 2012s from Chermette, but this wine shows a distinct earthy, almost soil-like aspect that adds even more complexity. Beautiful acid and minerality, but so much fruit to unpack over the next five years. So pretty.

One of the better young beaujolais I have had. Absolutely intoxicating nose of gorgeous mixed berries, baking spice, crushed gravel, and topsoil. The palate is open but structured, exploding with a lively melange of fresh berries overlying a vein of wet stone and tart cranberry. Finishing elements of forest floor, pine, and game lend a savory balance. This is singing right now, but it will undoubtedly improve with time. R&M 91

We enjoyed this wine. It is worth to let it air for awhile before drinking. There is no doubt this Beaujolais could last many years.

Does have that ferrous flavour of MaV on the palate.

more stemmy nose, not as pure fruited, darker fruited. 3 days later: actually quite a stemmy palate, not so keen on this

This may be starting to close down. Nevertheless excellent, deep aromas of dark berries, dried rose, and bramble. Medium bodied and structured, with firm acidity and finishing tannin to its wild berries, spice, and vivid florals. Let this one rest for awhile. Hold.

Bibendum Portfolio Tasting: Stalk, some raspberry and cherry. Palate has some stalk to it as well, with good texture. Savoury and well balanced.

So pretty.

Awesome wine. Showed a bit more complexity this time than the week before. Seemed to have a more intense mineral and earth component. Yum!

Saturday with David White (Domaine Wine Storage & Sun Wah - Chicago, IL): Lots of nice structure to this wine with a good deal of crushed stones, raspberry, plum, and earth. Palate was airy, but had a firm edge to it. Serious juice.
