Very pleasant glass of wine. Drinking at, or slightly past prime. Tannin now slightly dominates fruit. Black olives on the nose. Black olive and chocolate notes on the palate. Good acidity. Recommend drinking up, but look for this in recent vintages. Always a good value. Addendum: day 2: May have misjudged the longevity of this wine. Fruit reappears in spades. Suggest a decant and a little air before serving.

Palate now dominated by tannin. Fruit still there but not as obvious as in this wine's youthful exuberance. Is this shutdown phase, or is this wine meant to be drunk young? Time will tell. It remains a very pleasant wine to drink, and an excellent value. Addendum: Worth a point or two more on day two. (stored after opening at 60 degrees farenheit)

Tasted over two days. Elegant, balanced, and showing beautifully right now. Slightly polished, truly harmonious, satisfying. While the last drops were best, it seemed just a little for its substance. It will last for another five to seven years, probably longer, but I do not see it improving.

Fruit fading. Nose of black olive upon opening suggests a wine over the hill. A familiar pattern ensued with the fruit coming out after an hour or so. Very enjoyable, but still a wine that is best drunk young.Drink soon!

Red and dark fruits mixed, a little bitter in the middle, but this will fade with some more ageing. Balanced and juicy acidity, quite rounded already. Modern, ripe and smooth sangiovese-based wine. Paired great with steak.
In the style of Petrolo's Torrione, but a little less weighty in the mouth. Or think of a La Massa, but with more sangiovese in the blend so a little lighter and also red fruits present. 89+

Medium-dark crimson color. With some aeration, the nose really blooms: mint, potpourri, rosemary, blueberry pie, and flint. The palate starts brooding, with black fruit and currant flavors. This turns astringent at midpalate, with grainy tannins. There is a lingering finish of black slate. The nose shows a lot of promise, but the palate is still constricted by tannins and somewhat disjointed. I'd give this another 3-5 years to improve in the cellar.

Having been a bit torn on this wine in the past i have to confess this bottle was very good. Well balanced dark fruit with freshness and good acidity. This is really drinking well right now with a bit of air. I concur with nearly everything from the previous tasting note. Especially the black tea, which is an interesting nuance on the nose. There is also a herbal note here; I was thinking basil, but it might very well be oregano. 90, with potential for a few more points in a year or two.

Dark garnet color turning crimson at the rim with a nose of dark berries, currant, vanilla and toasted oak. The palate is dry, full-bodied, concentrated, fleshy, with bracing acidity and a silky texture. Flavors of black currant, black tea, graphite, smoke, and toasted oak comprise the core. The tannic backbone gives a structure for good aging, and should balance out with medium-term cellaring. Finishes long with a hint of dried oregano. Drink now with a 1-hr decant or better in 2016 until 2026. 89+

Drinking Nice now with room to improve. reminds me more of a Bordeaux than a Supertuscan. Full Bodied. dark fruit, earth, barnyard, and coconut on the nose. Mouth filling old world cabernet on the palate, with merlot smoothing things out. slight tartness on the finish could be due to the sangiovese though i see this improving with time.
a complex italian blend under $25 that i wish i had spent more time with.

Nez sur la fleur, les épices, avec une touche torréfiée (élevage très présent). La bouche est étonnamment acide, tannique, une peu amère, je ne retrouve pas la richesse enrobée des millésimes passés. Finale correct, fraîche et vive. Bien.

Reading the other reviews, I see quite a bit of variations in opinions. We shared a bottle with family and friends over stuffed shells, a heavier Italian. Knowing it could be a bit rough in still developing tannins and just hitting its early drinking period, I decanted it an hour before dinner. This rounded the Sangiovese and the cab and merlot grapes came through for a nice, long finished.

Very dry, more acid than tannin. It´s supposed to be that way i guess. Anyway, this needs food to be a pleasant drink, without, the dry acidic taste owerwhelmes the fruit. Decanting is not a bad idea either.... Good but not great.

Very muted in the beginning, but opening up after an hour in the decanter. Flowery, herbal, red berry and leathery bouquet. Very fragrant, quite complex with freshness and great depth. On the palate: Nice sweetness on entrance balanced by massive tannins and nice acidity. There's great freshness and transparancy here with savory leather and spice tones together with sweet fruit and stringent minerals. Long finish. Extremely well made and already a joy to drink with a nice steak after some aeration, but I plan to keep the rest of my bottles for at least five more years. I think this will hit its peak in 10-15 years. Extremely good value.

Popped two bottles for Thanksgiving. Real nice dried cherry, and tobacco notes, This is a dry Italian Red, and really amplifies the spirt of food. Drank on it's own, its good, but with mixed food, cheese, etc. This takes on a whole lot more flavor and nuance. Really a great bottle for rich foods, as it's so well balanced...

Black cherry and sandalwood bouquet. Somewhat polished exterior, but bone dry from entry to end. Marked by burnt cherry, tobacco, liqorice snap and a smokey finish. This needs time. I've got a bunch of this in older vintages, but I thought I would check in. As much as I wanted to like it, I couldn't warm up to this at all. This offers inviting aromas of freshly crushed blackberries, dark cherry, sandalwood, licorice, spice and even some earthy minerals. Full and balanced with silky, yet firm tannins and a seamless transition from start to finish. Love the extra grip and chewiness on the finish. This offers inviting aromas of freshly crushed blackberries, dark cherry, sandalwood, licorice, spice and even some earthy minerals. Full and balanced with silky, yet firm tannins and a seamless transition from start to finish. Love the extra grip and chewiness on the finish. Seems to be better than last years effort, but needs short term cellaring or some air time at the very least. (Best 2014-2020)

Very dry, could use some aging. Very good value, nose. Great with spicy food.
