  • Last of my bottles of this particular wine. Still drinking nicely but on the back side of "drink sooner than later". 20 years ago there seemed to be some confusion (only among buyers, not producers) around whether or not Beaujolais had the potential to age this long. I'm not sure this particular bottle was "worth it" (It peaked in 2013) but I have enjoyed so many others over the ensuing years that watching this one grow develop and fade was a worthwhile experience.

  • My WOTY so far (and true, the years just begun, but still, this was amazing). The best aged Beaujolais I have ever had, and I have had some good ones. Great lively nose of deep dark ripe fruits, on the palate it was smooth, aged, but fruity and not sweet, perfectly balanced, long finish. Really really really drinking spot on right now. I have 2 bottles left and will drink them over the next year. Really fine bottle. Really fine.

  • What a delight!! Deep fruity nose of dark berries and the palate is balanced, lively, fruity (totally) but with a depth and character and subtlety not found in younger full throttle wines. This is what aging certain wines is all about, and besides Muscadet, Beaujolais (when made for it) is another example of secret wonders that a cellar can deliver. Smafaboulous! Well done. Bravo.

Old vine Gamay not fermented via carbonic maceration. A fine example.
