Still powerful with sufficient tannin and acidity; the somewhat jammy fruit does not show clear signs of aging. Can live 5 - 10 years more but will never become real friendly.

Decanted 2 hours. Cassis nose with hints of saddle leather continues across the palate, which is focused precisely. Texture is seamless, the tannins integrated throughout, with a silken mouthfeel. The finish lingered as the tannins reasserted to tie the whole experience together. Quite lovely with dry aged rib steaks.

My second to last bottle of the. Decanted for about 45 minutes. Was good then but got much better after an hour after that -- some slightly harsh tannins on the front end at first opening, but after an hour and a half was smooth and you could really taste the dark fruit with a nice finish. Only downside is it's no too complex. Still a great QPR in my book. Probably need to drink this up before the next few years

A forgotten bottle from my original purchase. This was really nice. Ripe, concentrated, dark fruit, and very good balance. Certainly big and new world, but that is what I was in the mood for and this was really high quality for the price and in great shape right now. A-

Nose of black cherry and a little cola/spice. Palate has a ton of black cherry & some cola, fading on the medium finish. Some minerality on the finish only on day 1. Good acidity, a little chalkiness. Textbook cab here. Not super complex or unique, yet super solid. 88-89 pts.

Pro reviews from 83 to 92 and Community score of 88.2 -- this was going to be great or a flop... Turns out: stunning. In the process, the source of the controversy was revealed. Popped and poured, the bouquet wafts of lake bottom; the taste portends promise but notes of vegetation distract. However, aerate and decant for 40 minutes -- voilà! An aged Left Bank Bordeaux-style charmer. Medium-bodied, suave, dusty graphite berries and complex fruit, with mature tannins. Well balanced; thoroughly pleasing; drinking well right now.

Clean nose, medium (+) intensity. Sweet fruit, nice oak treatment. Good typicity and a great value. The acidity is only medium, however, and the tannins are a little soft. Drinking at its peak; it is not likely to improve with further aging.

Woah, big difference from my last bottle 1.5 years ago. Same notes, but the fruit was much more expressive. Distinctly Argentinean. I left in the glasses for 30 minutes while preparing the meal. It improved while eating, so decant for 45 minutes for maximum reward. 89-90.

Needs a good 4 hour decant to really open up. Heavy tobacco on the nose with some sweet perfume. Taste of blackberry and cranberry. Good body, big tannins, but not overwhelming. Will improve with time.

It's been about a year since I last had this. Black fruit, roast, tobacco, bitter barrel spice. Pear juice on the palate, makes for a juicy, fresher fruit cocktail note amongst it all. Stays just shy of blue fruit. Graham cracker and sawdust palate. Wildly modern tonight.

Medium to full body, bright ruby red color, aromatic, black currant, spicy and oak aroma, red fruits, plum and dark chocolate on the palate, red plum on finish, juicy, still very fresh, long finish, well balanced, nice well integrated tannins, low acidity, food friendly. Good with mushrooms and grilled vegetables mix. Serve 18º - 24º. Open 30 – 40 minutes before drinking. Drink now and next three four years.

Plum and jammy aromas from the cork. Medium-intensity aromas of cassis, cedar and plum from the glass. Vibrant acidity and medium-bodied on the palate. Good basic Cab. Nice raspberry, strawberry, a bit oaky nose. Get some Camembert cheese on the nose. Nice taste, a little bitter. Good for an everyday wine or something mid-week. Nice fruit, raspberry, and blackberry on the taste. Again a bit bitter but not enough to completely turn me off. For the price a decent wine.

Pretty dark purple-black in glass, offering up aromas of black fruits, palate opens with blackberry pie, evolves into layers of black currant, dark cocoa and saddle leather, bracketed by chewy-sweet tannins and leaving with a medium-long finish. Might be the best $13 Cabernet we've ever tasted, and a candidate for House Wine of the Year. 89++

Was hoping for a little more out of this one, but a nice wine. Dry on the palate, a bit of a spice to it, medium body - red fruit. A decent little cab for the price, and only slightly better than other low cost Mendoza wines - I prefer the Malbec.

Drank over two nights. Didn't take tasting notes so this is from memory, but disappointed at first since I was expecting a powerful cab like the '08 Marques de Casa Concha. This had a very muted nose, soft, undefined palate and short finish. Contrary to Jancis Robinsons' observation that is was "quite complex", I found this very one dimensional and uninteresting.
Second night this improved significantly and began to show some of the signs of what it could become. The nose, while still muted, began to reveal more of the what I would taste, forest floor, dark fruit, tobacco, somewhat similar to my experience with Buehler 2010. The finish gained some length as well and was much more satisfying. Overall I would say that this could cellar for at least one more year and I will give it at least 2-3 hours of decant time. May even open and re-cork for consumption the following night.

Inky and opaque, with a spice box nose, with blackberries and cassis, and a bit of graphite, soft tannins on the palate, good finish. Not complex or noble but a lovely new world cabernet at a weekday price.
Dark purple color with a lifted nose of blueberries, maple syrup, toffee nut. This has a soft, creamy, velvety texture with flavors of dark berries, oak, coffee, dark chocolate, and vanilla with an over-arching spirit that's lifted by the 13.5% alcohol and bright acidity. Finishes long and balanced. Drink now with some aeration until 2020.

Massive dissapointment. No nose, no fruit and no body. Not worth the calories or the time. I have no idea what wine the Advocate was drinking when they gave it a 92. There was nothing I liked about this wine. I've had $7 bottle of cheap Cali plonk that put this to shame. Why bother?

Unfortunately, this wine was overrated. No way this is 92 pts. That being said, for $13, it isn't a bad weekday wine. We paired with a sirloin steak. Dark purple in glass. Blackberry and pencil lead notes, with a strong spicy quality to it (maybe a little too strong). Short finish. Good on open, a bit better after 20-30 minutes. The problem is that nothing about this wine will "wow" you. I remember having the Catena cab several years ago, and thought the Malbec was better. I still feel that way.

Black fruit, tobacco. Suave and ripe fruit for this bottling. Positive bitter spice on the palate. Cocoa and kind of malty. Perhaps the best vintage I have tasted of this wine. Rather European in style. A Bordelaise profile with some Italian bitter for good measure. All on really approachable structure. Acid is medium, tannin feel medium minus.
