Dark core with bricking; nose screams Bordeaux, cigar butts, red currant and green pepper; big rich and fleshy with aged characteristics, very full and pleasing the way a good Bordeaux delivers; this had me fooled for the 2nd time.

Dark core with 1/2" bricking; reeking of Bordeaux on the nose, sandy gravel, mushroom and cow stank but not brett, leather, coffee, red fruits, slightly tart, plastic note, some stuffing, and very drinkable. Thought this was Pauillac. Really well done.

Charlie Frumkin brought this to dinner at Fratelli Lyon. Followed my 97 Sammarco. Charlie decanted it for an hour before dinner. Had significant feral bret on opening, which moderated after 15-20 minutes in the glass. Ellen, the hypertaster, was initially put off by it.But found it acceptable after 15-20 minutes in the glass. An unusual cab from the Alto Adige, and I presume this reflect the terroir. I enjoyed it, and will drink more when we do visit the Alto Adige, but would not look to buy this locally.
