2 years since last tasting and these 2 years indeed did the finishing touch. This CdP is now fully ready, although a decant is recommended. We drank over 2 days, best on day 2. Wonderfull, strong cherry nose. Cherry, vanilla, and a touch of herbs and spice on the palate. Great harmony, and a sweet, nicely tannic and long finish.

Ma dernière bouteille fut aussi ma meilleure et une belle surprise, vu le millésime. Les tanins sont fondus, le vin montre encore un beau fruit noir, doux et savoureux, avec une bonne profondeur. Long et bien équilibré, franchement impressionnant. 92 pts

Ruby, deep core graduates to some bricking at rim; splendorous nose, dark fruits show well; potent, showy, powerful, yet carries 15% with ease. Grandstand finish, well proportioned. Drink now & next decade. Authentic C9P.

Dark purple in the glass, with a very nice, cherry and herbal nose. The finish is very long, herbal and tannic, a bit sharp still. Very nice wine, well made, but I recommend 1-2 years of ageing extra.

Obtained directly from the Importer/Distributor perhaps a year ago. Opened and poured a few ounces. Dark, dense black purple, no sign of age. Aromas quite reticent--a good 30 seconds of swirling release scents of crushed stone, black currants, forest floor, and a hint of wood smoke. On the palate the texture is surprisingly silky with broad flavors of dark fruit, grilled herbs, and chewy spices. The acidity is beautifully matched to the levels of rustic fruit, and while the tannins are still quite prevalent, and maybe even borderline aggressive, I would suggest this is entering its "very happy" stage based on the exquisite balance of all the components.
Some of the mediocre ratings for this wine are curious--perhaps bottle variation, poor storage, or just an awkward moment in the development of what I think is a quite excellent CDP from a generally underrated vintage. I first tasted this at a walk-around industry event and it stood out then. Maybe it just aligns with my palate preferences, but there's no doubt of the quality.

Sweet fruit and coca cola nose with primary impression. Dense sweet in the mouth with fine tannin and fruit. Not over the top but still concentrated, dense and heavy.

We tasted a couple of Chateauneuf that night and, while good, was the least appreciated. The nose was shy even after 1 hour. On the palate, there was a bit to much tannin, and the wine was a bit short. Cherry dominant.

Rite of Spring at Chevalier Wines (Chicago, IL): Really, really grapey. Lots of sweet fruit and a bit leaner and a touch more acid than the 2012 Royer Sables. You know, this would have been a decent start to a wine, if the finish were not so marred by a streak of nasty and unpleasant oak.

Licorice, vanilla and spice framboise couple with floral notes to create a smoky, sensuous, rich wine, finishing with ripe plum notes. A few years of age should add even more complexity to the wine.

La Reine des Bois is Mordorée’s landmark, although it only represents a tiny part of their output, produced from a 5 hectare parcel with a yield under the 30 hl per hectare. One of the particularity of this cuvée is that 30% of the wine is grown in barrels, hence sees wood. This 2011 is a wine I truly enjoy, ranking among the best efforts of this not-that-strong vintage. Full and complex, the 2011 is a kid as of now, but a truly potent one. The aromatics here are fully Provençal with a good share of dark berries and dried garrigues, plus, on the top of that is a bouquet telling you you’re not flirting with Lirac but Chateauneuf, indeed made of plum, dried plum and freshly cut herbs. A gorgeous effort showing its good share of tannins -part of them being integrated- and a medium/long final for a Mordorée, this wine has plenty of potential to truly shine in its youth. 93+ points

Powerful nose of incense, black coal, very black fruit, mine de crayon... very very very fine tannins, sweetness and freshness, black black black chocolate... a hint of salinity, zero residual sugar, very dry, but sweet tannins... one the most accessible Mordoree Chateauneufs I've tasted since 2004

I feel that great 2011 CdP apparently have soft and important tannins with dense level of berries. I was shocked how concentrated this wine was.
