Delayed note - Enjoyed this but it was outclassed on Sat Night by some other Pinots, including a terrific 2005 A to Z Pinot (which I couldn’t locate the bottle to see the vineyard).

Light transparent red in color. Lovely perfumed nose of strawberries and violets. Beautiful, delicate fruit, strawberries, cherries. Fine tannins, precise acidity, perfect balance. Brightens with air, but I would not decant it. Finishes moderately long, savory with cherry notes. Lovely wine and no need to wait. Should hold for a few years.

Decanted 2 hrs. Having tasted a lot of Kelley Fox Pinot s over the last two years, this really seems like the first Scott Paul wine that bears a strong resemblance to wines under her own namesake. Starting with the nose, great scents of wild raspberry and spice, I suspect some percentage of whole clusters is at play here, maybe 25%? Would have liked to see a little more grip mid palate, but still highly enjoyable for sure. I do think better er drinking in the next 1 to 4 years.

Continuing the trend of beautifully elegant 2011 OPNs. Unscrew and pour, but needed 1.5 hrs to really get going. Intense nose with cranberry and sandalwood, raspberry and a hint of herbs. On the palate, so suave, just beautiful acidity, some dark fruit, sandalwood, high-toned spicy red fruit and a very finely grained, softly tannic, spicy finish. Sad this is my last btl, but drinking so well right now.
(Since there seems to have been a Scott Paul firesale, maybe it's worth mentioning provenance: this btl was purchased via the wineclub years ago, and has been sitting in my cellar ever since.)

Popped and poured. Way too cold at the outset, I let this sit in the glass for about 30-45 minutes. Tight at first but then blossomed into a terrific wine and at $24, an absolute steal. Firm, with tart cranberry and strawberry which perfectly complimented the ever so slight caramel. Great QPR. 91pts.

Delicate upon opening. Gained some breadth with time. Nicely balanced with red fruits, some spice and earth and a long finish. Drank alongside a Bergstrom from the same vintage. Both very good old world style Pinot's, but gave the Bergstrom the edge.

I've really enjoyed 2011 OPN for their elegance, and this wine is no different in this regard. Decanted and left open for almost 5 hours. Perfumed nose of sour cherries/cranberries, raspberries, spice, sandalwood, some floral notes, and touch of coffee/earth. This was just seductive on the nose. This fruit comes from Maresh vineyard, but it seems very different in style from the 2011 Arterberry Maresh from the same vineyard (that was more high-toned and candied than this wine, which seemed to push in a darker direction). Intense acidity that commands your attention, but manages to just avoid being tart. With a swish, you can tell there is some structure in the background, but there is no perceptible tannin. The finish was rather long: the acidity comes in waves that make your mouth water and runs you through the cycles of flavor again.
I thought this was brilliant. I enjoyed this probably as much as the 2011 Cameron Clos Electrique, but I think this is the more subtle and delicate of the two wines. I think I liked this better than the 2011 Arteberry Maresh from the estate vineyard, but this definitely has a lot in common with that wine. I thought this was drinking wonderfully (the tasting pour was excellent as well; the main reason this spent 5 hours in the decanter is that stuff came up, and I think it would be fine with a quick decant as well).
Day 2: We had a couple of glasses of this left, and we let it get back up to proper temperature. This seemed more earthy today, with more herbaceous notes, and a hint of watermelon. Good evolution, and still beautiful acidity.

Decanted for about an hour. I thought the fruit came through fairly late. A bit more earth and spice early on. Nice balance throughout. I look forward to trying another bottle in about 6-12 months.

I have an earlier note that was pretty unflattering and an admonition to reserve judgment. So I waited a few months. And this is pretty darn good though is it time or bottle variation or something just off in one bottle, I do not know. Regardless, this is nice stuff. A cranberry/rhubarb vivid red fruit flavor, long finish, good balance. Way better the second night. Quite tasty.
Not rated. I need to withhold judgment until a second bottle because for the price that is charged what came in my bottle was a serious disappointment. Thus, I am hoping that bottle variation is the answer or that it really and truly needs more time in the bottle to show. Here's to hoping.

A bit lighter in color to some of the others in the 2007 - 2014 vertical tasting we are doing...a bit more cola than cherry on this one.

Wine is just passing its peak. Light floral nose, grapefruit in the middle with clean finish. It’s time.....

Nice Pinot but has staying power. Earthy with lot's of acid. Suggest waiting another year or two.
