This is a great example of a great, aged, Zin. Consumed over two nights. Very fragrant on opening. Dark cherries, blackberries, and an array of pepper/spices, balanced by resolved tannins perfectly mated to a weighty mouthfeel. This was amazing and while it was delicious! now, it can age further, I'd guess.

This is holding up really well. Good example to avoid claiming that Zins don't age well. Still some tannic structure with smoky black fruit & secondary spice starting to show about 10 minutes in. Fruit now giving way to more savory notes. Not sure how long the fruits will hold, but overall there's enough structure to wait awhile.

By the glass at the Four Seasons in Chicago. Bottle was just opened, it took about 20 minutes to show.
Nose is very ripe, oak black fruits, caramel.dark purple color. Palate is fruit forward, black raspberry, liqueur like texture, cassis, burnt sugar. Really nice Zin, if you like the style and varietal. Very full wine that needs some time to settle down. I think it will do better in a couple years, but drinks well now

Strong tannins very up front, but settling out. Purple color. Thought I got a hint of butter on the nose at first, but couldn't catch it again. As the bottle sat during the evening, it mellowed a bit. I'm not sure I could taste the price doubling of this bottle over a $13 Sonoma Count Old Vine Zin from Ravenswood.
I think this might harmonize with a year or two of laying down. We've got a few more bottles to let sit.

Holding up very well. Decanted and enjoyed the last glass 2 hours later. Love how these Zins are enjoyable for many years.

I really did like the nose - oak, a lot of dark fruit - cassis, black raspberry and so on. A lot of acidity which overshadowed the tannins.
