Finally got around to opening this with a carryout short-rib meal. Paired well, as you might expect. The wine is nicely balanced, not over-extracted, smooth thru the middle, but just a bit of heat on the end. Not sure it's getting better, but it's not spent either - I'd drink up in the next year or two. To my taste this is respectably good, but not quite great.

Napa boutique Cabernet 2009 Sylk Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Carlyn and Barton Vineyard ($35 in 2013). 500 cases made, vineyards on border of Stags Leap and Yountville AVAs. Mid-dark garnet, brick edges; berry, mint and light oak nose; balanced; mid-body; softening tannins; good Cabernet fruit and flavor; long semi-hot (14.1 alc.) finish. w/flank steak. 16.5 UC Davis scale, 91 other scales. Sadly, they no longer make and sell wine. Wonder who buys their grapes?

A nose of dark fruit and some spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied Cab, with black cherry, herbs, tart, off balance, over priced. www.winelx.com
Drank over 3 days with vacuum seal and refrigerated. It has the body to go that far.
Black cherry, oak notes and profuse but not tough tannins. By day three, tannins settled down but so did the fruit forward nature of the wine. Comes across on day 3 with some asparagus on the nose too and chewy drying tannins and chocolate covered raisins with charred wood.
Remember it being somewhat disjointed on day 2. Therefore, it either needs a vigorous decant or another 2 more years in the cellar.

PnP. Nose of black cherry and loads of toasty oak. Medium palate with more black cherry, blackberry and a long finish with more toasty oak. Pretty noticeable tannins give it good structure and suggest this could develop into something really nice in 5 years. For right now, though, it's a bit over at $30.

Seems to be coming into its own and reasonably priced at $25. Pretty serious Cabernet, approachable, and ready to drink now. Plums , mixed berries, and vanilla flavors. Tannins are integrated. Nice finish. Decant to maximize enjoyment.

Really a great QPR, classic Napa style. Dark ruby, full bodied. Approachable now, but requires a short decant; opens with cherries, dark berries, spicy mint, vanilla and sweet plums. Still showing some oak, but that lessens as the wine gets air. Nice, full finish. Would buy again at $25 or less as an everyday drinker.

This was a nice everyday Cabernet from Napa that is reasonably priced. When I first opened the bottle the wine was very closed, almost tannic. After about 10 minutes it really opened up with hints of berry and a crisp finish. I drank this over 3 days using a stopper to remove the air in the bottle and felt that the wine held up well. I bought 4 bottles of this and am quite happy with that decision.

Good taste but a little harsh and high in tannin.

Very good QPR. A surprisingly approachable Napa cab with berries and vanilla. Smooth, this is an easy drinking cab that is right in its prime now.

Good QPR - nice deep color, nose of crushed fruit, the palate was medium with plums, blueberries and a little spice, a decent finish.

Echo the comments from dmccann3, the wine is still tightly wound and requires a good decant. Classic Napa flavor profile. Good QPR.
