The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like gooseberry and black currant (cassis). The body is light. The wine has juicy texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Best bottle yet (and last) of 3 purchased. Some time in the bottle really helped this wine integrate and settle down. Really nice quaff. Not complex or super sophisticated, just really enjoyable with a lot of red and black fruits and a bit of zing but no real tannins. Probably won't age a whole lot more.

- Fast forming legs with a full body. Leathery texture with a medium finish - A very good match to game. And graevy sause. (dear). Good tannins, are still firm, but silken up. You feel its a bit hot, but good match for the graevy. Black fruit on the palate, and some wood. Dark deep red, but with some tones of blue in the edge. Will develope its tannins in cellar fore some years more. But I am more afraid fore loosing its fruit. Better drink up in near future.

This is a tad better than medium fruit-forward, lots of notes of dark cherry and touch of fig, earthy. A little young, even given no oak, should be better over the next 12-18 mos. Quite food-friendly, given it's a click better than medium on both acidity and robustness. Great value for $13-ish. Grenache/Syrah/etc blends do (as with the great Châteauneuf du Pape and Cotes du Rhones wine) tend towards being fruit-forward, that is their historical style.

Well this is a nice surprise, showing better than a bottle I had last year. This time around there is more earth, leather and tar to go along with the currant and cherry fruit. Not sure what the grape percentages are here, but it certainly tastes like a godd deal of Syrah is here. Nice value.

Having had 2 bottles of this and having read a number of the other reviews here, I've concluded that there's a lot of bottle variation with this wine, which is not surprising given the volume they do. The last bottle I had was a bit too acidic for my taste. This bottle was not quite as acidic but still noticeably acidic on night one; but much more integrated and silky on night 2. So, give it some air before imbibing and you may just have an enjoyable bottle.

This is a pleasant, fruit forward wine. The nose has lots of dark fruit, some floral hints, and a touch of earth. The palate has big fruit, a nice amount of tannin, and some nice acidity. Not too complex or thought provoking, but plenty tasty enough to drink and at the price its a good value.

Dark ruby in color, this is a fruit-forward, easy drinking wine with the nose of cherry, blackberry, licorice, and soil. The palate follows the nose with a lot of black cherry, blackberry, plum, clove, hint of tobacco, and some bitter chocolate and licorice. Low acidity, low/med tannins, and short/med finish. It is ready to drink but will keep for few more years.

Medium body, medium red color. Bright cherries, blackberries, some earth, oak. Spicy, some heat comes through. Perhaps just needs a few more months to settle down? 2010 was a great QPR. 2011 so far is very good.

Best bottle of about 5 that I've had. Interestingly, this bottle was opened on the 35th, 2 glasses were poured, but not consumed and then poured back and re-opened on the 30th. Sort of like a muted/extended decant. Whatever, the extra bottle time since the last bottle, this particular bottle, that particular odd treatment, this was really nice. I think I'll give it an extended decant next time around.

This red wine is a blend of unspecified amounts of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Plum and cork with hints of purple fruit aromas from the cork. Medium-high intensity aromas of barnyard, black cherry, herbs and pepper from the glass. Medium+ bodied with racy acids. Palate has spice, anise, black cherry and black currants. Good structure with tannins that are nicely integrated. Finish is long and a touch warm. Chill slightly and drink now. Enjoyable! Score: 88+ pts

Dark garnet color with red fruit, garrigue, and a hint of coffee ground aromas. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and fresh with a supple mouthfeel and solid structure. It shows black cherry, red currant, blackberry, and mineral flavors. Medium+ finish. Blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Aged in vats. Very nice QPR @$10 from Costco 14.5% alcohol.

Popped and poured, then finished two nights later. Aroma is vanilla and dark fruit...heavy vanilla. Taste has some dark fruit, but quickly hits the palate with a lot of acidity. Just doesn't quite seem to be very well together, at least not at this point.

A dry, dignified blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Sipping it reveals flavors of black cherry, kirsch liquor and black pepper that hang on the tongue for almost a full minute, which is unusual for a wine of its price. The bold alcohol (14.5%) hangs on the palate, too, but in a balanced manner that melds together well with the fruit and tannins.

Tasted at Vino wine tasting (Hollywood, Florida). This blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan is dark garnet colored with a slightly paler edge. The nose has aromas of black cherries and berries. It tastes of very ripe dark cherries, blackberries, and minerals. The wine is balanced and fruity. It has a nice moderate finish. Excellent value.

I bought two bottles of Chapoutier -- this one and the slightly higher tariff Occulum stuff, with the following idea: I was going to a party soon and would need to bring a bottle of wine. My thought was "I will show all of you what twelve bucks can bring to a party." But then I started wondering whether that was a good idea. Would they even notice? 30 people at a party - how many of them did I actually know? Did I a) need my friends to notice how good I am at bringing wine and b) want strangers to perhaps stand bolt upright and ask over the thumping sounds of last seasons' hip-hop (non-threatening variety) "What genius brought this twelve dollar wine?" Do I really need the approbation of others? Spoiler alert: Yes. Nonetheless I ended up drinking this myself at home over two days. The good news is it's amazingly good and it overperforms wonderfully and the bad news is you don't want to invite me to parties.
Nose of Kirsch, black cherry, blackberry, spices, and earth. Lots of fruit on the palate, but there's good earthiness and absolutely no overripeness. Nice acidity and dusty tannins. A really nice QPR. For near-term drinking.

A solid wine, with ripe currants, blackberry and cherry fruit. A note of black pepper, but this is mostly about the fruit, with a decent amount of balancing tannins to add structure. Not a lot of complexity, but the price is right.

I am not as big a fan of this wine as some; particularly at this stage in its development. Did not decant the wine which may be to its disadvanatage, with an initial nose of black cherries and earth. The initial flavors appeared a bit closed in, with substantial tanins closely following, and partly hidden, by the fruit. That said, the tanins were not bitter but were a moderately full mouth feel. Reasonable length in the finish with a sense of Grenache and Syrah. Will have to try another bottle with a couple of hours of exposure following decanting. Served with roast beef hash, which should have been a good match.

This is a very drinkable Roussillon. Has some alcohol on the nose though drinks just fine even at 14.5% abv. Exhibits terroir from the region, soft black pepper on finish, mostly earthy rather than fruity. I may get a case - the main problem is, I can pound this puppy down :-) You don't really want to do that with 14.5%

So subtle in the nose and even smoother through the finish. Hard to believe that a 14.5% can be this inviting, with light berry coupled with a charcoal mineral taste. This truly supports that I have been drinking the incorrect French wines before this because this a true, lighthearted gem at only $12.

This is pretty good. Deep dark cherries, some light spice and a finish that lingers. This is a wine to buy by the case.

Great QPR. Delicate nose, light body yet good structure. Figs and berries on the palate.

Maybe my expectations were too high after reading the reviews, but I was not much of a fan of this. Sort of tasted like sweet cherry pie and rhubarb to me. The sweetness was too much, and not much complexity.

It smells like Dust, Mushroom, and Strawberry Jam. strawberry jam color. little bit of that barnyard funk that is similar to a so. rhone. became more fruit forward. finish leaves a little to be desired.

Tremendous QPR. Popped and poured. Good acidity, balance, structure, and complexity. Medium-bodied with smooth tannins and a desirable finish. Elements of dark cherry, blackberry, oak, tobacco, earth, cracked pepper, currant, dried herb, and bitter chocolate. Amazingly easy to drink! -92 points-

Medium body. Initial tasting was like a zin. Went well with pork and mushroom gravy on mashed potatoes. Soft tanins, finish is not long. Would try again.

Not the worlds best wine, but really loving this for an everyday winter wine. Fruit, spice, something interesting for $13. Really needs time to open and come up to temperature to show itself.
