Doesn’t get much better than this for me …. I always love csj and the 2012 didn’t disappoint. This wine left everyone licking their chops for more. Voluptuous fruit, velvet mouthfeel, intoxicating bouquet, and some coco/ vanilla flavors integrated. I want more ….

08/12 pair. The 12 is surprisingly generous, delicious and integrated from the get go. Awesome meat and spice intensity in a rich, chewy frame. Upside from here, but no harm opening as a ten year old which isn't always the case with 2012s.

Great freshness and energy here. Intense red berry. Long finish. Surprisingly accessible for a '12. Best is still very much to come of course. A second bottle (decanted this time) a few weeks later was even more complete and coherent. Silky texture.

Rousseau Dinner (WS New York): For some this was the WOTN. Very enjoyable in this first stage of development. It gave us a lot though it didn't linger very much. I could have drank this all night long.

Another Wine Slog Across France; 11/2/2019-11/13/2019 (Paris, Alsace, Burgundy, Encore Paris): Dull light ruby with slight fading at the edge. Immediately, red fruit, spice, and mint. The green briefly turned more brambly, but that pulled back over several hours. Light weight and earthy, it only gained texture and sap over time. Again, muted red fruit sweetened, complemented by the soil, ferrous tastes, cooler green notes, and perfectly gauged acidity. Soft tannins complete the framing and lead to a long, elegant finish. Complex and full of nuance, it is shockingly ready now.
Two nights later, the soft red fruit and spiciness march on atop the earthy base, leaving one very optimistic about the wine's staying power. More oak is apparent on the finish than it was on the first night.

This was a beutiful wine with layers of complexity. Rich and velvety with soft ripe tannins that hold it together just enough. Everything is well balanced and integrated but perhaps a tad too ripe. I would say drink now.

This is holding itself well being served after the Roumier Amoureuses, with its distinctive Gevrey identity. Lifted aromatic profile of savoriness, undergrowth, a touch of mint blue and red flower and fruits. Very elegant and seductive. Delineated, expansive on the palate with excellent acidity and fruits. Only tighten up a bit at the very end though the tannin is almost unnoticeable. Highly persistent and showing the power of Gevrey. Another Great wine.

No notes at all on this bottle enjoyed tonight (I was beyond intoxication when this was poured). However, I do recall that this was mindboggling and had such a great fruit frame and overall balance. (Day after, when I woke up, I could still taste this wine in my mouth, and it tasted very good!) No score given, due to no real memories present, intoxication when this was popped .
2017 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium - Kelly and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/9/2017-11/14/2017 (Villa D’este, Lake Como and Milan): Expressive nose displaying pure black fruit, crushed blackberry, spice spices, sap, very floral, caramel, toasted bread and strong limestone. Exceptional finesse and balance for such a young wine, beautifully layered decadent yet pure black fruit, perfect amount of acidity, strong mineral presence, very fine tannins and a long crushed blackberry and dark flower driven finish. The nose is quite intense yet the overall all expression is quite elegant and refined. It is drinking beautifully in a very youthful way which is not surprising.

What a wonderful wine. Young but with exquisite balance and proportion. There are notes of cranberry, black cherry, violets, black earth and ginger. It is full, rich and creamy with great intensity yet it is light on its feet. Tannins are spherical and length superb.

From a little tasting during service. It has all the fruit spectrum, structure and ageability of a Gevrey GC. Still a baby, with the upfront fruits sitting under a numbing cap of malty oak. To reassess in at least 4-5 years.

Day Three in Burgundy: Rousseau, Marchand, Dugat, Jadot (Cote d'Or): Barrel tasting at domaine. Ripe black cherry with robust meaty spice aromas. Firm all black fruit flavors, rather assertive overall, with great balance and surprising evenness already today. final assemblage will be 70% from new oak, so this note might not represent that blend completely accurately. 93-95 point potential.

Very pure and well structured wine. It is accessible today with a good decant. Clearly the best is yet to come as I believe there is upside from here.

Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys La Paulée Auction; 3/10/2022-3/11/2022 (Le Bernardin Prive - New York NY): Alongside the 2008. Fundamentally opulent with black berries and plum in front of roasted meat. A real powerhouse that is maybe getting close to its peak. Much better when retasted an hour after opened vs right away.

Good structure here. Appreciated the definition across the palate. Still young, but quite a nice wine for the vintage.

Fresh and intense with dark red berries and good acids on the finish. One of the '12s that has been overlooked.
