Still hanging in there. Tannins are gone, but it hasn't turned. Nice flavors, and a great wine to drink with a friend. Amazing that it's 25 years old and still drinking well.

Some black cherry notes on the nose. Very soft tannins still remain. Slightly acidic but still retains some fruit. 2014 probably a bit too long to hold on to it but still very drinkable.

Saturday Fun at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Tasted blind (I pegged it for an early 00's Barolo based on the earthy and fruity nose, though the tannins didn't feel right). The palate came off a little hollow and lacking in concentration, though there were quite some nice fruit flavours. Very light tannins that didn't have too much grip.

Don't know how, but it was bright luden's cough drop red out of the bottle. A bit dead on the nose and a short finish, but in between, a very pleasant light version of what you'd expect. Bright red fruit, a bit of spice, no tannin experience to speak of. Guess I timed the last bottle reasonably well. Complimented the eggplant well.

This surprising vibrancy of the fruit of this seventeen year attests to the longevity of these wines although its a bit more subdued than earlier years as it is approaching the end of its drinking window. Still full bodied, moderately firm with dark purple color it showed juicy round full and forward black fruits of blackberry and black currant with a layer of leather and cedar and hints of vanilla bean and creme de cassis, a touch of pencil lead on the finish with moderate lingering tannins.

Carried to the Braywick Bistro as a porte votre vin selection. Enjoyed with lamb and mint butter. I have to agree with the earlier posts - lovely balance - starting to brown around the edges with a healthy dose of saddle leather. Would have liked to have had this at 5 years, 10 years to be able to see what transitions occur.

Dinner at Oishii with Mom & Dad: Deeply colored with no clearing. A big wine with a thick palate impression due to lingering tannins. Rather rough and tumble on the outside with a core of black currant fruit. Cedar and eucalyptus nuances. Nice wine.

Saturday Afternoon at Domaine - featuring Nebbiolo (Domaine Wine Storage - Chicago, IL): Tasted blind. I guessed a super tuscan. Lots of oak and had that graham cracker and mocha notes going on. Thought it was a pretty decent wine, but wasn't overly exciting.

This was way over the hill, raisining and musty. Hope it was just a bad bottle in light of the other recent, positive posts.

Brilliant effort at age 15. Flawless balance and still exhibiting power. Black fruits, cassis and a sweet mint finish. I really loved this wine.
