Tangy and light on its feet -- avoids the stewy sweet mess you can get in cheap CA red blends. The zin steps up front with brambly cherry and licorice flavors, and there are some really nice savory notes bringing up the rear; earth, mint, and black pepper. Finish is a little under par, but who cares for 10 bucks.

60 percent Syrah, 30 Zin, 10 Grenache. Dark garnet; jammy, berries, peppery nose (alcohol/prunes); grapey, fat, Rhone-like; good tannins; a little hot. BBQ wine.

A dry, somewhat gamey nose with a hint of rose. In the mouth, the wine was never exciting. I kind of limped along. It was never too sweet. Nothing exactly lived up to what it was trying to be. I wouldn't call it tamed, rather it was reserved all around. The tannins opened near the end of the bottle, but even that never overwhelmed you or proved to be interesting.

syrah based blend, medium body, dark fruit, good balance and length, sipped with a cheddar which brought out the fruit. also sipped with, believe it or not, pea soup/ham and was yummy. nice value.

Very subtle earthy and smoky aromas upon opening and vanishing within 20 minutes in the glass. Dark fruit, especially blackberry steps forward, luscious mouth feel, bit of spice there towards the finish. Nicely balanced and a good long finish with soft, gentle tannins rounding things out. Great QPR and daily drinker!

If I had to guess I would say chipped spanish grenache. And I don't mean that in a bad way...
But what is the price?
