The first single vineyard offering from Schramsberg (or second, considering Hyde came out at the same time). I couldn't find a lot of technical info, bust based on my club shipments, I presume this was disgorged in the fall of 2012, so probably 3.5 years on the lees. 73/27 chard/pinot, 12 g/L dosage (times sure have changed!). Over ten years post disgorgement has done this wine wonders. The super bright green apple notes that were present in earlier bottles have been replaced with richer/rounder yellow/red apple, pineapple, a bit of mango and honey/butterscotch. After drinking a lot of sparklers lately with 4-8 g/L of dosage, the higher dosage stuck out here. However, it didn't necessarily feel out of balance like Schramsberg's 2010 Blanc de Noirs Late Disgorged. Perhaps the extra age post disgorgement helped integrate it a little better? This has evolved into a nice single vineyard production and was quite pleasurable to drink over time. I hope other single vineyard productions follow a similar path.

Gold and copper in color. Nose of caramel green apple, orange blossom, honey, and pear. Flavor of caramel, honey, ginger, and lemon. Lingering tart finish.

Very fruit forward in a lighter crisp style. Honeysuckle, apple, orange, and slight yeast aromas. Similar flavors with the apple leading. Good acidity. Lacking the fuller body and density that some of their other sparklings offer.

Gold in color. Nose is sweet and caramelly. Honeysuckle, orange blossom, and brioche. Taste is more of the same with slight apple crispness on the front of the tongue that lingers. Smooth mouthfeel.

Interesting nose of spice, masserated apple some cedar, palate palate is fresh with an elegant mousse with lemon rind profil, finishes kind of short though

A: Pale gold. Fine mousse. N:JTH has candy apple nose. I get baked apple, hazelnut and we both get marshmallows. P: Dark baked apple immediately gives way to a bright streak of versus. Unripe peach pie and a sliver of ginger. JTH detected pecan shells, jolly rancher, green apples and very faint coffee. Wheres the brioche? Finish medium (-). Good acidity and medium alcohol (12.5%).
C: This has fab acidity. Get mouth watering before a dinner and so a aperitif wine perhaps. I don't like the lack of freshness in the fruit. JTH wants more toast. Lacks complexity. $50 for a bottle which means the QPR on this is very poor. I do like the fact that its not trying to be French. Those flavors are not what i would normally associate with the sparklers that i usually drink which is fun.

Didn't take notes, but it went splendidly with fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits and a hangover. Would recommend.

Smooth, silky, nicely balanced with good acidity, a hint of spice, and good dark berry fruits.

This was a great bottle of bubbly to celebrate the 4th. Beautiful straw color, active bubbles, lots of nice yeast and lively through the finish.
