Expressive aromatics of pine needle sap, camphor, sandalwood and red fruits. There's a bit of spritz on the palate. It doesn't have the depth of a recent '13 but is detailed and finishes with tart berry freshness. With air you get some sarsaparilla, and Chinese five spice powder action. It started off looking a little skinny but certainly put on some mid-palate pud in the glass.
Opened out of curiosity as I've yet to taste a 2011 and I wanted to see whether I found signs of the lady bug, or dilute underpowered wine. Thankfully neither were present and this is really a decent wine. At the moment it's more about texture than giving too much away on either nose of palate. If you're holding any, I'd leave for another 3-5 years.
