This was given to us over the holidays. I figured it would be way past its prime and it certainly was. It was not spoiled or turned to vinegar, however. It was just very light in body and very thin in flavor. Just tasted tired and spent. Used a bit for cooking and dumped the rest.

Nose of cassis; plum and cassis on the palate, notes of green pepper, earth; seems young although I've had this is the house for about five years; slight bit of bitterness on the finish.

This wine was dominated by a persistent bitter chocolate streak. No ripe fruit discernable. Could only drink about half the bottle. The rest was used in a marinade.

($13) Mocha, cedar, black currant nose. Medium to full bodied. Bit medicinal, but supple and fairly well integrated. Coffee-espresso finish. Hard to get excited.
