A pleasant wine with some notions of complexity and terroir. However, it leaves you wanting a little more: another dimension. Truth be told, it really is not bad at all at a $20 price point! Garnet colored. The legs are medium-fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like clementine, lychee, red currant, apple and verbena. It tastes like gooseberry, grapefruit, cherry and melon. The body is medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Although some of the guys on the fishing trip liked it with the bison steaks, for me it still hasn't fulfilled 'the promise' of a Markham merlot blend. This just never lived up to it's billing.

Even after time in the bottle, this wine still continues to disappoint. Maybe it's the bad '11 vintage, but this just never seems to live up to the promise of a Markham merlot blend ... overpriced for the quality (or lack thereof).

I thought stemmy/green pepper notes predominated, with astringent bite, and my husband's impression was thin with little fruit. Either way, not something we would buy again.

I continue to be disappointed in this wine. I bought a case at the winery and it just hasn't come together. The nose and palate are both muttled ... nothing defining. Generally, we're very happy with the Markham merlot, but for the price, this just doesn't cut it.

The last couple bottles of this vintage have been disappointing. Muttled fruit on the nose and harsh on the palate doesn't make for a good experience. 6 bottles left ... what was I thinking when I bought a case? 2011 wasn't a good grape year ... maybe that explains it.

Always enjoyable! Dark red and blue/black fruit on the nose and palate. Nice and big and benefits from drinking with food ... bigger food as this can be a bigger wine.

Fairly disappointed in this vintage, or at least this bottle. Never really opened up. Seemed thin and one dimensional. Hopefully my other bottle is better and I'll give it some time to get itself together. Right now though, no better than 85 and could have scored lower.

For a merlot blend, not much fruit, very light tannins, almost a watered-down character to it. After some time in the glass it picked up just a little more intensity, but not much. Definitely not worth $17.99.

Not a very well made wine. Markham took a step back for sure on this one. Uncorked with only a very light stain. The nose was all strawberry and kiwi. This one tasted like berries that were slaughtered well before their time. It's a shame, really. I saw Markham and was excited to try it. This is predominantly Merlot, although there weren't very many Merlot-ish characteristics. It was very fruity, no body, no spice, no finish, no oak. Sloppy wine, and I don't see bottle aging making this one any better either. Drink now or, better yet, invest money in Markham's real wines because this one missed the mark in a lot of ways.

Well balanced, very drinkable but based on the purple color alone, it appears to have time. Some dark fruit, fine tannins, well balanced alcohol.

First seemed thin. As it opened up the fruit flavor and balance made it very pleasing. Needed red meat to developed best flavor

It's getting better, but still for the price, it's disappointing. Check my previous notes ... still the same and more sediment in this bottle.

Still tasting harsh ... this wine should be very good, but just seems adequate. It can't stay 'dumb' this long.

Another solid bottle of wine. Notes are similar to previous tastings. At Costco prices, this wine is a bargain.

This would be a great bottle for a party. Just the right price and a nice bottle for a large group. $18.24. Rebuy some bottles.

Not as good as the 2010 ... needs to age a little longer in the bottle.

Still tight and not ready to drink. Showed some potential for similar complexity of the 2010, but at this point the fruit was still very inexpressive.
