Rather full-throated, focused, though not blowsy. Certainly well-made, complex layers, though a bit much for my oh so delicate West Sonoma tasting sensibilities. A food wine for sure, with a few sips permitted beforehand. Stood up well to kamado-smoked sri-racha marinated chicken and roasted potatoes.

Possibly an off bottle. Thin and acidic with an almost sulfuric fish oil smell. Not corked as decanting lessened the impact but still off. Cherry cola and vanilla loom pretty faintly here.

Decanted but only had about a half hour before serving and it could have used a while longer given it opened up very nicely a couple of hours later when we were finishing it off. Drinking very well right now, showing a beautiful bouquet, rather dark and full body for a pinot, but I guess that's to be expected given PH's style of wines, and that also holds true for the flavor profile, rich with layers of beautiful complexity.

The 2nd opportunity for me to drink Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir, Hyde vineyard... what a pleasant surprise, and a better report. Very nice fruit and fresh barnyard aromas, very nice, silky/semi-sweet tannins, spicy, and a longish 45 second salivating finish under the tongue. Perfect with salmon tonight.

Sometimes you wonder why your buy the wines you do. Then you open a bottle like this. Larry Hyde fruit - Paul Hobbs. Was delicious. Really ready to drink now. Sure it will cellar well but why wait? Paired with BBQ Pork Tenderloin and Yams.

It seems to everything going for it. Delicious ripe berry and spice scent. Solid structure, rich, extremely well-balanced, ample ripe tannins. Beautiful and enticing.

Drank two bottles from same delivery from winery. First bottle was superb, beautifully balanced, although young, dark colors and nose of dark fruits. Second bottle, although not flawed, was astringent-hard to believe it was the same wine. Drank with roasted salmon with mushroom and shallot topping. Rated first bottle at 92 and second bottle at 85.

Purple in color. Not much red in the color in glass. Nose starts with dark red raspberry and cherry and spice and then hits a toasty almost burnt toast aroma. The fruit hits the tip of the tongue with nice balance of acidity at mid palate and a really nice thirty second plus lingering finish where the fruits come back to the front. The tannins are very smooth already and not texture is medium full bodied and quite nice. This one makes you think. It fores you back for another sip. Very nice bottle. Wish it were $20 cheaper but who wouldn't other than the owners. Will update if any major differences on day 2 as will save half the bottle.

Dark, rich, Cali Pinot. Should benefit from more cellar time, as tannins and acidity still prominent.
