Lower acid year, tastes 15 years old, with rounded apple and pear. Still textural but starting to show some unpleasant oxidation notes. Still prickly, but not buit to last longer

The first vintage of Dönnhoff from the “Höllenpfad” vineyard (means “path to hell” in German language), an extremely steep vineyard characterized by red sandstone, located in a small side valley of the Nahe River. A delicate dry Nahe Riesling with a brilliant pale lemon color and a pure and aromatic nose showing scents of peach, lemon zest, dried apricot, spices and tropical fruit such as papaya and passion fruit. Excellent concentration and structure on the palate, with abundant youthful citrus fruit, a vivacious acidity and a perfect mineral backbone. Beautiful lingering finish. A pleasure to drink now, but has also a good mid-term cellaring potential.

only one year later the next bottle, all components are more balanced now, still very young and fresh appearance, tropical fruits such as mango, passion fruit and lemon, strong mineralic aromas, herbs, midweight body, because of still high freshness a long but little lean and tart aftertaste of this bottle, for me this wine needs more cellaring, 88-90+?

Medium(-) straw yellow, no discernible despite 13% abv. Medium(-) aromas of tropical fruits, herbs. Dry, medium(+) fresh tart acidity, medium body and ditto alcohol. Medium(+) flavors of pineapple, mango, yellow apple and mangosteen, mineral. Perfectly balanced, rich texure and medium body lend this wine gravitas. Great length with a for Riesling big finish. Serve chilled, can handle any Asian dish :-).

seems to be the first vintage of Dönnhoff from this wineyard......the Nahe wine- growers are the first in Germany to use the grading such as Kabinett or Spätlese only for the classicstyle....so this would have formerly been labeled as a Spätlese trocken...... fine mineralic nose, on the palate very fresh and young, at the moment dominating acidity, minerally, exotic fruits such as litchi and passion fruit, midweight balanced body, very good finish, long life ahead, will open the next bottle in 3+ years 89- 91?

a bit "closed" at this early stage. Very fruity and fresh, like Tonschiefer. Was awaiting a bit more complexity...

Lots of citrus with a bit of bite, saline notes, good acidity, so different from previous Donnhoff wines, a style choice, but very nice
