  • A little acidic right after opening. Improved with airing.

  • Tomat och rökta charkuterier i doften. Bra struktur men något endimensionellt.

  • 90% Prugnolo Gentile and 10% unspecified red varieties, this wine comes from vineyards at approximately 1100 feet of altitude. The color is medium (+) ruby, with only a hint of garnet on the rim. The nose is clean, medium in intensity, with some black cherry, black plum, baking spice and some earthiness. The palate is dry and with flavors consistent with the nose. The palate is very well balanced and integrated, with medium acidity, tannins and alcohol at 13.5%. The 24 months of aging in small (presumably used) barrels help smoothen and integrate the wine, resulting in a very elegant and refined wine of medium (+) body. The flavor intensity is medium (+) as is the dry and pleasantly mouthwatering licorice finish. This wine draws you in rather than boldly announcing its presence, and should be great with a variety of hearty meat dishes. Drink now through 2018.

  • Pretty dark, ruby red color. A bit tight nose, some sweet dark fruit, earthy notes, with some oak. On the palate dark berries, figs, plums. Quite earthy, and dark. Good mouth feel, full bodied with some acidity, and medium tannins. Leaves a bit chocolaty, bitter aftertaste with hint of tobacco. Overall, everything felt a bit subdued; should`ve been decanted maybe. Not mind blowing stuff, but in fact quite delicious, well made wine, and for the price(8€ in supermarket in Venice, Italy), good QPR

  • This vintage lacks much of the sparkle, density and complexity of the '09 (see my notes on that wine).
It is sold as part of the same offering by AH in the Netherlands. Still, at EUR 6,99, its OK. But I would try and find some of the '09 instead if you still can!
