Blackberries, rhubarb, plum, cinnamon and spice on the nose. Some leather and mushroom tertiary notes too. Palate has quite a bit of acid, opens up with some air. Lingering finish but not much fruit left. A little past it's prime to my taste but a nice wine. After a few hours it developed some brown sugar on the nose that was entirely unexpected

In a stunning place at the moment. Waves of blackberries, cooked plum, tootsie roll, and spice. Lighter on the palate than I expected - was almost overpowered by tenderloin - but still has a faint juiciness that I loved. An unmistakable nose of dried sage and thyme. Brilliant stuff. Drink now, I don’t know if this will be this great for long.

Drinking wonderfully now having developed all the more with age. The white pepper stepped out more than I remember a couple years back, threading through the rich brambly red fruit. Long satisfying finish.

I wished I’d paid more attention to this wine as I tasted it. These notes are mere impressions, favorable ‘though they may be. 100% Zin. This is a wine that shows power and finesse. The throb of rhubarb is tempered by the sweetness of Zin fruitiness. Cinnamon and vanilla in spades on the finish. No sediment. Very much ready to drink just now but it can just as easily rest well for a number of years. 14.5% alc. With homemade pizza of pepperoni and mushroom. Recommended.

3rd Annual 7 Deadly Zins (well, about 15 this time) (Wayne's place in Darlinghurst): From Coravin. Medium plus intensity aromas of black fruits, plums; almost prunes in face, and cherry, chocolate and spice. It smells broad and so it proves on the palate but still with juicy acidic freshness, black cherry and berry and chocolate. Yum.

Black and blue fruit, exotic spices, and licorice frame the nose. Full bodied, juicy, and pliant, with dried red fruit, hibiscus, and plum flavors that flesh out nicely across the palate and through the long finish. Velvety, savory, and genuine. Ridge stays true to the game.

Aromas of dark berries and dry hay. Medium to full body and really juicy. High delicious factor with ripe red raspberry flavor. Bright and lively from start to finish. Tastes genuine and not manipulated. Smooth and soft finish.

again and again Ridge comes through with another well made unique wine. The Paso Robles greets you on the pop and pour with a ripe red and black raspberry nose with pepper and a touch of roasted meat. As with everything else I've enjoyed from Ridge, a little time in the glass (or a short decant) will reward the patient sipper. The nose opens up allowing some of the subtle oakiness to step forward. This one is a little juicy, but not at all jammy. The tannins are present but smooth lacking most of the astringency found with some of its sister wines. Drink this NOW. Do not wait, it is ready to go. best enjoyed sipping with friends over conversation to allow it to change in the glass over time. will also pair with most red sauce dishes. Cheers!

Second bottle much better than the first! Not nearly as complex as other Ridge Zins, but it hits all the right notes. Still a little too much wood on the finish for my taste, but perhaps this will resolve with time.

Ridge never disappoints. For the more pedestrian Ridge Zin, this is versatile offering. Lots of fruit and acid. Good long finish. A bit hot and fruity -- could use a few years. Very pleasat with Lamb Meatballs and red sauce.

Clear, red-violet, color-to-edge, strong extract A&B: blackberry, mulberry, plum, pepper, spice, violet Taste: dry, smooth, full flesh and body generous alcohol, balanced tannin, average intensity and pleasant quality. Correct balance. Straightforward, medium finish. Overall good.

quite fruity, this was exactly what I like from zin - no alcoholic wallop, not overly intense spice, just red and black fruit, ample acidity, and a bit of bramble. Delicious all the way from pop & pour to the next day. sweet tannin, medium-weight palate, medium finish of pure summer fruit. SHould have bought several more bottles! A favorite of Chris'.

No question about the quality of the grape source nor the vinification in this wine's case. The grapes are from the Benito Dusi Ranch ("Dusi" being a sared word in the Paso Robles area) and Ridge, with respect to vinification...hard to argue. The two come together in a nice way, although my tasting pegs this wine as a bit too ripe. Opaque crimson in color, it has aromas of boysenberry, black pepper, pickling spice and raisin which are followed by similar flavors in a full-bodied, round, softly tannic frame. The alcohol (diluted with 1.4% H20 and reported at 14.5%) is perfectly integrated...a winemaker could not do better! Solid in the middle and medium in length on the finish, this is a very nicely vinified wine which should go along with kudos to anyone involved in the decisions during its upbringing. Drink now-2017.

At Gary's Grand tasting. First experieince, lighter fruit, not a spice bomb up front. Lighter than some of the other Ridge Zins. First experieince with this wine. Has many of the classic Ridge Zin characteristics but more restrained

W burger from grill. Very good combo. Not big but very fresh and (like others said) good version of varietal. Got better while open. Just very good and drinkable. Doesnt knock you with spice and fruitnand unbalanced issues like some zins. Maybe 2 more yrs.

Favorite of the 3 tasted week of release. Slightly tannic, rich fruit and maybe something a little darker in taste: anise or tobacco? I'm aiming to hold this 2-3 years with hope for even more flavor.

Hope over experience. Bought at large west coast grocery chain because it had "Ridge" and "Paso Robles" on the label. This is NOT the same as Ridge Dusi Ranch, frequently available through the Ridge ATP program. Tasting notes: faint notes of plum and strawberry, but predominately green wood on the nose and palate. Short, tart finish. Noticed after opening that this was bottled in Dec 2012, so perhaps with time this may improve, but I'm not holding my breath. Left me wondering why Ridge is diluting its brand in this way...
ruby red in color. spice, dark red fruit, earth, tobacco, on the nose. pepper, earth, blueberry, clove, cherry, on the palate. medium-high acid, medium tannins, on the finish.

Fruity nose of dark berries and a hint of clove. Moderately jammy fruit on the palate with bitter cherry and blackberry. Only slightly spicy. Low tannins and acidity. Probably an early drinker. Less complex than the Geyserville, but quite enjoyable.

Tasted at Plum Market Ridge Vineyards Tasting Event. #3 of 11 Ridge wines tasted. Tasted back to back with '10 vintage, '11 vintage was pre-release for this event. Earthy, smoky, chocolate and dark berries dominating. Finishes tart with light tannins on the mid palate. Surprisingly, the '11 vintage was more complex even now than the '10 vintage of the same varietal. Not as complex as Lytton Springs, but it is a nice value from Ridge for everyday drinking.
