Tommasi Amarone: Drukket samtidig med 2012-årgangen. Mørk mursteinsrød. Klart mørkere enn 2012-årgangen. Lukt av tørkede kirsebær. Mer dybde i lukten enn 2012-årgangen, men litt treverk. Mye rundere og fruktigere enn 2012-årgangen. Lang. En god Amarone.

Vinturi aerated followed by a 90 minute decant. Alcohol overwhelms the nose. Not much fruit on the palate either with only the barest essence of prunes. A simple wine that is on the light side for an amarone. It's best attribute is a smooth mouthfeel and nicely integrated tannins. The short finish is mostly heat again. This wine should be drinking really well right now and it is clearly not. Past it's due date...perhaps? Save your money.
From a split in Verona. Opened to breathe for an hour. Very smooth. Cordial nose with some oak. The palate is baking spices, sweet berries and cherries, nice acid and tannins on the finish. Well balanced, not coy at all. Tonight with Gorgonzola cheese, Parma ham.

Nose: blueberry and blackberry jelly, bit of sweet dark incense (dragons blood), pine needle, dried dates/figs, sundried tomato, dried oregano and dried basil. Very pleasant! Taste: dry, medium-full bodied. Sweet dried fruits predominate: figs, black currant and dates. Some fresh pomegranate and blueberry acidity. Silky texture with a very soft light finish of fresh ripe blackberry. Mid palate of sweetgrass and vanilla bean. Very gentle tannins. Hedonistic. 91.

Nose:blueberry jelly nose...a lot. A little bit of tomato and basil. It is really much like a red pasta sauce with some pepper. A hint of wood. Plum sauce and candy dates. Taste: medium body, dates, figs, prune, and candied blueberry. Dry with but try texture. Soft and delicate fruit forward profile with a smooth finish. Custard in terms of mouthfeel. It reminds me of the steam milk layer on a latte. Gentle profile with a lot of layers.

From 375ml. This was the first Amarone I've ever had, and I will probably buy more to drink with food. Sure, this is not one of the most complex or long wines I've had - actually, it's quite simple and very short. But I did like its structure, and so did my wife - there is nothing flabby about this bottle, and it is very tasty. The dryness at the end more than compensates the sensation of sweetness when first entering the mouth. 90pts today, and quite enjoyable for the price I bought it (around 10 euro) at Verona.

Intense and concentrated. Slight sweetness but not in a bad way. Despite a high alcohol level (15.5%) it is hidden well and relatively smooth. I don't often drink amarone but surprised how easy to drink this was. Very enjoyable

This was a let down. Generic, gloopy, overextracted and flabby. Probably could find the same quality from a $16 bottle from some new world mass producer. After the wine had been open about 4 hours it started to show some cigar box notes but far too little too late.
An afternoon of Italians (wine and people) (Vince & Lisa's): This is very nice, but coming after the Zenato, it lacked a bit. It is still young so perhaps it improves a bit from here. Purple/ruby in color. The nose has dark cherries, some prunes, some black licorice. On the palate, there is nice dark cherry fruit. Comes off dry as a bone. A bit of charred earth. Nice finish.

Herlig skyv i denne Amaronen. Klassisk stil med mørke bær, kirsebær og moreller i smaken, helt integrerte tanniner, også god friskhet. Ganske elegant til å være Amarone. Litt over middels fylde.

A: Les gouttes de dieu running down the glass. N: Warm black currant compote, sour cherry, masses of plum and chocolate truffle. Developing. P: Cherry skin acidity, tincture of cedar, astringency nicely rounded out by aromatic white pepper and bitter chocolate. Plum here too. Full body and high alcohol (15%). Buy Again: Alright then. C: Not as concentrated as the 2000 vintage that we devoured in 2007 but lovely nevertheless. Would love to tasted this in another 5 years.

The wine is pretty much consistent with my previous note (Oct/2013), although aging seems to have helped the wine, making it come across as less hollow and a bit more balanced than before. Still, I wouldn't consider this wine particularly fine or interesting an example of Amarone, at least based on how it is drinking now. Perhaps it'll show better at 10 years of age, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The nose was confectionary, showing plum, black cherry, medicinal herbs and bitter molasses. On the palate, it was soft with velvety textures as sweet dark fruit covered the palate with dark chocolate and holiday spice. The finish showed medicinal cherry and a hint of heat, which lingered long.

A very regular Amarone. All in, full throttle, packed with sweet raisins and fig’s, Christmas spices, wood, vanilla, sweet heavy fruit and high alcohol. Young, but will never be a good wine. Not my type of wine, at all.

Very deep dark cherry red color. Quite sweet and opulent nose with rich aromas of partially dried figs, sweet dark cherries, some raisin, a little bit of overripe red berries and a little bit of milk chocolate oak. The alcohol feels quite a lot in the nose. The wine is very rich, soft and rather full-bodied on the palate with very sweet attack and unctuous flavors of dried figs, raisins, ripe dark berries, amaro bitterness, some oaky mocha notes and a hint of dried dates. Although the wine is very rich, it doesn't feel as massive and chewy as the previous vintages or other producers' Amarones; somehow the midpalate feels even a bit hollow. The richness seems to come more from some residual sugar than the concentrated fruit body. The structure relies mainly on the abundant and quite firm tannins, as the acidity feels quite low. The oak character seems to grow in the finish, giving the aftertaste a rather pronounced chocolate note and some toasty oak spice along with fruitier notes of sweet figs, very ripe dark berries, a little bit of tart red berries and a noticeable streak of amaro bitterness that seems to pile up with every sip. The high alcohol makes the aftertaste rather warm, hot even.
A rather disappointing Amarone after the previous vintages. I'm not sure if it's just me, but the wine feels more new world in style than before. Also, the wine feels somehow less impressive than what an Amarone should be with some kind of distracting hollowness through the midpalate. I'm hoping some cellaring might make this wine come together, but it definitely shows less potential than the previous vintages. I'm not sure if the style has changed or if I just had a less-than-perfect bottle, but I'm not impressed. Definitely not worth its price at 36,90€.
