  • The nose is typical Jadot with a cherry, minerally thing and a hint of road tar, almost Baroloesque. Palate seems fully resolved, again with cherry fruit, minerals and a small amount of grip, very long finish. Nice wine but nothing spectacular given vineyard and vintage

  • Fairly robust, not especially refined.

  • ALL Musigny Night (Taichung, Taiwan): Bouquets of lavender and black currant, simple but somehow attractive. On the palate, medium body with dried herbs, slightly dusty, peasant-like edge. A bit one-dimensional with a relatively short aftertaste ( with Grand Cru standard). Feels like it’s already on its downhill side. Much too soon for a 1999 Musigny. 92pt

  • Very pretty nose of wild berries, red cherries, hoisin sauce, and a hint of cedar and underwood. Nice acidity on the palate with flavors of wild strawberries, blood orange, and sour cherries. Long finish. There's a lot going on and the wine gained a bit of ripeness/richness with air. Overall, this was a fantastic wine and really interesting to try next to the 96 Richebourg from Jadot and DRC. It was much more subtle and nuanced and showed less power. It was only a tiny step behind the DRC.

  • At a dinner full of great burgundies, the Musigny flight stood out way above the others, which included a flight of Dujac Clos de la Roche and and a flight of Vosne Malconsorts. The Musigny flight included the 93 and 99 Jadot, the 02 Drouhin and the 02 Vougeraie. These were all terrific and easily deserving of the grand cru title. If not at quite the level of the best bottles from the likes of Mugnier and Roumier, these four wines were all fabulous and priced slightly below the stratosphere. What was impressive were the similarities between the four wines. The terroir really stood out and was unmistakable. Of these, the 93 Jadot was the most developed and possibly the most impressive, showing more secondary flavors of musk and fur and mushroom and cinnamon. The Vougeraie was delicious and the most elegant of the bunch with a slightly more linear quality but still unmistakably Musigny. The 99 Jadot and 02 Drouhin were both delicious and impressive if not quite at the level of the other two. Overall, it was a treat for those in attendance to have four such terrific wines, all showing well (don't ask me about the corked 02 Vogue Mus) and all representative of this outstanding vineyard.

  • Jasper Musigny. Some watermelon notes and funk. Hmm.

  • New Year at Bristol w/Jadots (The Bristol, Chicago): Dark sweet dusty touch of herbal aromas & spicy.
Chewy earthy dark fruits with sweet edge. Blackberry, toasty, dry extract. Bit lean and quite dusty. Very enjoyable as evening progressed with just a few rough edges. 93

  • Jadot Dinner with Friends (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Plenty of black fruit aromas with lots of density and intensity. just not forthcoming today. Similar in many ways to the Jadot 1999 CSJ from earlier tonight but with greater power and concentration. Easier to intellectually appreciate right now than easily enjoy, this had very good potential in another deacde+.

  • This needed air but eventually developed a gorgeous perfumed bouquet and a textural quality of deep silky smoothness that is really incredible. The fruit is somewhat muted at this point but the class and breed here is impeccable. Given this wine's history and pedigree, it should a be a fantastic Musigny down the road. 94+

  • Musigny Mass Murder (Plates): The most primary and richly fruited of the three Jadots, but exquisitely balanced. The sense of class is unmistakeable, dense but slender fruit wrapped in tannins of the finest cashmere.
