Quite correct for a Santa Barbara Pinot Noir. Nothing special but a good quaff. Bought it for a closeout price of $15 at our local liquor store, which promotes major brands yet carries a small handful of unique stuff. Bottom line: nice house Pinot Noir.

Very fruity on the nose. Like cranberry jelly, ripe raspberry, slight red currant. Strong allspice.the palate is quite the same. A bit tart but doesn't last. Longish stay in the mouth but not very complex. Good value.

Decent generic central coast pinot with correct varietal notes but nothing complex about it. A slightly tart and astringent finish mars the whole experience.

A very pleasant and bright drink with slightly ripe cherries and sous bois. The palate was slightly simple and the finish was moderate. A reliable and easy drinking wine.

Light garnet in color, this wine shows black cherry, cola and forest floor on the nose. The mouth feel is medium bodied with cherry compote and extracted fruit punch elements. The finish is medium in length but brought a noticeable burn at the end when paired with food.
A gift from a restaurant while we were on vacation recently in Key Largo, FL, this bottle seemed a little off as all the components were there but they were not combining seamlessly. I'd like to taste another bottle of this and will keep an eye out for it in my local area.

Extracted and heavily manipulated, this was nevertheless balanced and full. However, not surprising, it's short and sweet on the palate - black cherries, honey, caramel, and baking spices. Fine for the money.

Vintage 2014 - Wine and Film Pairing (The Mod - Phoenix, AZ): Brown butter and butterscotch on the nose. Light, watery soft texture. Very simple on the attack. Palate is mostly black, with some red cherry, and butterscotch, but is very subtle and barely fruit forward. Mid-palate has some dark chocolate with virtually no finish. Overly manipulated Pinot Noir, that fortunately has been made not to overwhelm. Still, can't get past all the toasted oak.

Very commercial, yet it was definitely Pinot Noir and very clean and impersonal couldn't really taste Santa Barbara but ...Byron used to be something special but this corporate KJ wine bottled in Santa Rosa was a good value PN but also a wine without soul. As SB county it only has to be 75% SB PN wonder what the rest was.

n - raspberries and raspberry jam - very Cal pinot noir a touch of tannin, a little alcoholic heat (not actually that strong 13.5%) touch of meat, dry some beetroot drying finish not bad, tastes better with a light chilling

Vibrant ruby in colour, equally vibrant nose with raspberry, cranberry, pomegranate with a good dose of barbecue smoke. More bright red fruits on the palate, with some richer blackberry notes, soft tannic structure and good mouth-puckering acidity, as mentioned by other reviewers, this is has good concentration and fruit forward but lacks that classic savoury-Pinot texture ***1/2

Mid-deep purple-ruby. Raspberry and blackberry nose. Sweet fruit, quite high alcohol on the palate, which lacks any noticeable savoury aspect. A simple fruit driven wine, with a lot of flavour but not a lot of interest.

At Hotel du Vin, Birmingham. Recommendation of the Sommelier. Fruit-led, simple appeal of fruit and vanilla without much depth or savoury note to leaven it. Alcohol poked out on first sip then settled. Nice pepper sparkle on the finish. Not a stunner and not complex but passable with the peppery finish adding a little interest.

If you like a heavier, fruit driven Pinot then this is worth the $18. Ripe cherry flavors with hints of strawberry. Any acidity that was present when opened disappeared the next day.

This is a very respectable Pinot for the price. Deep ruby and quite heavily-extracted, it shows dark berry, anise and pickling spice on both the nose and palate. The wine is rich, yet shows nice acidity and well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13.5%). With medium-weight tannins (which are very supple), it remains pleasurable throughout the middle and medium-length finish. Bravo to Byron for providing the consumer with a delightful product at a wonderful price point. Those looking for an attractive quality-to-price ratio should give this one some attention. Drink now-2018.

Not a big Pinot but plenty of typical California Pinot characterics at this price to be a good house wine.
