  • Nice summer wine. Floral on the nose with green apple and gravel. On the palate it has good weight and nice acidity. You get some peach, sour apple balance with a good amount of acidity and minerality. Good summer wine with a persistent finish.

  • There is a little more weight here than I would otherwise have expected and the lime and bitter apple flavours are striking and pronounced. This is a very clear and precise wine which is pieced together by its confident acidity, slate-like minerality and direct fruitiness. Finishes with some pear-drop pizazz and plenty of brio.

  • Beautiful vinho verde with excellent minerality and purity up front, and bright acidity to keep the mouth watering. While I wish it was a bit longer, it is only a $12 wine, so how much can we expect?

  • Vhino verde from Niepoort, nice, no bubbles thankfully, lime, slate, and some floral notes, great minerality and acidity.

  • In Beaconsfield, aperitif. Very slightly petillant, slight but not off-putting green taste on the finish.

  • 100% Loureiro. Fermented and aged for 5 months in stainless steel, no MLF.

Youthful green color, fitting for a "green wine". Quite fruit-forward, even somewhat tropical nose with aromas of peach, some pineapple, a little mushy banana and underlying hints of white florals, aromatic estery pear notes suggestive of cool fermentation temperature, and hints of slatey minerality. Not as much frizzante as slightly stingy on the palate, suggesting of noticeable, but very low amount of CO2. Rich, surprisingly full-bodied and very fruit-forward on the palate with almost medium-dry taste - even though there should be only 6 g/l of residual sugar. there are juicy but straightforward flavors of peach, ripe banana and hints of green apples. The medium-long finish is quite expansive and somewhat sweet with flavors of ripe tropical fruits, some ripe apple, light green notes, a little floral aromatics and a hint of stony minerality.

Somehow the nose led me to expect something more complex and nuanced. Although the wine was as rich and fruit-forward as the nose promised, the wine itself seemed somewhat straightforward and lacking depth. Stylistically much fuller-bodied, fruit-forward and riper than many other Vinho Verdes, stylistically much closer to single-variety Alvarinho Vinho Verdes. Overall this wine is tasty and decent stuff, but like so many Vinho Verdes, it is quite pedestrian, probably best suited for the role of a simple summer wine. At approx. 9€ the wine is priced according to its quality.
