This 1999 Leflaive Folatieres is at its peak, not as reductive as the 99 Pucelles or the Grand Crus. I find older Folatieres lighter compared to recent vintages, this 99 showed elegant stone fruits, toasted wood, dried herbs and sous bois. At its peak and very enjoyable. My guess was 1998 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru. (90/100)

Clearly past it’s peak now - nothing wrong here just a wine that should have been drunk 5 or 10 years ago. Now lacking bite and intensity. A few oxidative notes.

Gaja Charity Dinner & Tasting for HealthServe (Taberna, Bukit Merah): Yet another wine from a magnum. This was at peak and delicious, making me suspect that 750mls should be drank up soonish. I really enjoyed this bottle though - it had such a beautiful nose, with typical Leflaive notes of chalk and toast and flint wed to very Folatieres notes of pineapples, stone fruit and a drift of pretty flowers. Like the nose, the palate was really full and expressive as well, with very giving, generous flavours of pineapples and ripe stone fruit laced with more of those chalky mineral notes picked up on the nose. I really liked the minerality here - it cut through the full, ripe depth of the wine and gave it a nice sense of focus al the wayl into the long, powerful finish with its flush of spiciness. From a magnum, this over-performed for both its terroir and vintage. Very good.

Medium yellow. Aromas of lemon, peach and vanilla. Both creamy and tart on the palate, with a touch of hazelnut. Delicious-- don't need to wait any longer.

Bought off a restaurant list. Splash decanted and served over 2 hours. Gold colour had me a little worried. Wine was fully mature, round, fair bit of glycerin and hints of nuts - hazelnuts and almonds. Still plenty of rich fruit but this bottle definitely was ready to be drunk up.

Medium gold color, typical lovely lemony acidity and creamy mouthfeel. A touch of lemon merangue and slate on the palate. Just lovely, silky and lingering smooth finish.

Medium pale yellow. Began probably too cold, at which point the nose was a little raw and the mouth impression disjointed, with the midpalate heat of the vintage and some spiky acid poking through. Within a few minutes of air and temperature correction, became much creamier from front to back, with lacy elegance and a core of fruit. Long finish holds a tinge of warmth and citrus pith strictness. Far from my favorite year for Puligny, but a very good performance.

Deep and intense, tightly wound, tremendous energy and tension, almost meaty, lemon, power and steely acidity, salty minerality, lovely length, warm oak. In great shape, masculine, concentrated and refined. Needs air, will develop well over the next ten years. On the second day deeper, riper and more rounded, honey and candied fruit, completely intact.

Burgundy Masterclas with Lisa Perotti Brown (American Club): Light gold. White fresh cream, white flowers, some lemon custard, white tea and ginger skin on a delicate nose. Also some sweet oak, some buttery oats. Fresh attack of lemony acidity hits the front palate with a low ringing mineral finish. However, after leaving it to nurture in the glass for about 20 mins, oh my! captivating. love the rich body of lemon fruit and sweet jasmine honey tea. Very puligny indeed. Excellent typicity.

This bottle fell short of prior bottles and might have been effected by storage conditions. The nose was evolved but lacking freshness and more tropical than bottles in the past. The palate had round fruit but, again, was softer and less "nervous" that it should have been. This was not pre-moxed, however.

The good news is that there was no sign of premature oxidation with this bottle. A buttery yellow gold colour with good weight in the glass. The nose is a bit simple - buttery fruit and a fair bit of oak - almost New World. The flavours is similar- full of ripe buttery fruit but with enough restraint to stop it being fat. But there is no real depth to this and the wine lacks minerality and finesse. There is also far too much oak present for my taste. In all I found this a bit simple and straightforward.

A bit of sulphur, touch of honey development with roasted nuts and white peach. Softer acid with some mushroom character on the palate and an extremely long finish. It was just getting better and better as it breathed up in the glass. A very classy wine.
