This is Calera's base pinot and it is quite good for this price range. I think it has significant life left and will save my second bottle for next year. The wine opened up considerably over several hours, at first a bit frizzante and unsettled and a bit wild but with air it became a very good California version of a Burgundian style pinot. Not overly sweet, good balance and plenty of fruit from start to finish. Drink 2018 - 2019.

Nicely balanced Pinot. Cherry, raspberry and baking spice on the nose. First taste has nice ripe cherry fruit with cinnamon and more spice. Nothing overpowering, everything in balance. Long finish and light tannic sensation at end with anise. The longer it's open - the better it gets.

A decent Cali Pinot. Not ridiculously over-extracted like so many are, but hardly Burgundy. Classic cherry elements without any sourness and a very good mouthfeel but just not enough going on to truly impress. Perhaps it is already starting to fade.

@work Medium minus ruby, sweet ripe red fruit, red cherry, really pure fruit, some oak - ~30% new french oak (actually 10%). Baked strawberries. A bit developed. Good fruit ripeness but structurally a hot mess.
Elevated alcohol - 14% (actually 14.5%) Medium plus body medium acid low tannins slight bitterness

Ripe in style very much Californian pinot noir, darkish in color for a pinot, intense on the oak and on the fruit intensity with high alcohol. Not my kind of pinot anymore not even at this price range

Lovely young, drinkable, well balanced Pinot noir. Translucent medium ruby. Nose of cherry, strawberry, ripe cheese ( In a good way) and some light forest floor.

Another mundane over oaked pinot noir from California. At least the price point is good. Oak and alcohol on the nose. Palate is dominated by oak. California has learned to reign in the exuberant fruit that it is known for, but often fails to curtail the oak to keep the wine in balance. This is such a wine.

A usual favorite as a regular drinker. The '12 has a big California Pinot nose and attack, balanced by a bit of dirt and spice, but it gets hot with alcohol on the mid-palate and finish. At least in December '14, this vintage isn't the great daily drinker like usual. Still a cut above your typical supermarket Pinot, just not great like many Caleras can be.

Very Pinot on the nose, sweet and ripe plums flavors, potent perfume. Falls apart a bit on the palate, and finishes rough with a fair bit of alcohol. Not sure if time will turn this around, but not a huge fan at this point. Worth paying a little extra for one of Calera's much much better pinots from Mt Harlan.

Spice box and violets on the nose, muted red fruit on the palate, rhubarb and raspberry, plenty of acid, light bodied, short finish with some grippy tannins I wasn't expecting; not hot in a very ripe year, tastes a little watered down in fact. Opened up a bit by the cheese course but I think it may need time in bottle to show whatever it has.

Light-to-medium body. Earthy, slightly musty and stewed fruit nose. Medium-light body. Palate was candied black cherry, with earth, barnyard funk, cigar box, some other savoury notes, and a bit of spice. Popped and poured, and on the first night the stewed notes overpowered everything else. The acidity was lost, and the wine seemed tired instead of youthful and fresh. By the second night, the sweet and tangy cherry had moved forward, the earthy, stewed notes had receded, and the acidity seemed more pronounced. In other words, it was vastly better on night 2.
