Path and poured through a sieve as the back end of the cork crumbled into the bottle. Moderate sediment. Dark ruby color. Nice classic nose of red fruits, earthy spices. Very classic Napa cab. Big and bold for sure. Very new worldean!. Good structure top to bottom. Fruit still up front and center. Excellent with marinated tri-tip tonight. Held up well second day without any special treatment. A pleasure to drink. Lots of life in this one.

Beautiful wine that teetered on the edge... primary fruit was faded into dark red and blue fruit notes with prominent wood and spice notes. I would have expected the tannins to be less sharp. Paired with a pork ragu, balanced the entire meal experience.

Mature nose and blueberry palate, nice structure, resolved tannins and smooth finish. A pleasure to drink, however would say the 2013 Hidden Ridge 55% slope was superior on this evening. w-dad during the self-quarantine.

Decanted and poured. Following on the heels of the '04 Bond Pluribus, this wine seemed more red fruited and round. Still a bigger styled wine, but softer and more loamy earth on the finish. Mature but not anywhere close to over the hill.

Powerhouse of big fruit and a long finish. Tons of cedar, dried fruit and great structure. Can still sit for another 3-5 years if anyone has bottles to drink.

sadly, the wine just never hit the high notes. Fruit was short on the finish and although it did open up after a few hours overall not what it should have been.

Tannic and tight upon pulling the cork, this wine only began to soften and reveal its bouquet after being open for an hour. Noticeable bricking and tons of sediment, with a dry, crumbling cork. Outstanding once it got the necessary air. Its very, very good, but clearly rounding third and heading for home. I would drink within the next year.

Deep purple. Nose of black fruit and leather. Deep black fruit and blackberry initially and through the moderate finish. Drinking well, but a bit subdued.

I think that this wine is a bit over the hill. Decanted for about an hour, and then served. The nose was quite absent until it was decanted. About 30 minutes later, it showed a very typical mountain fruit nose with a dense blackberry core and nice vanilla! There was also a perfume note to the wine that showed up in the nose about 2-3 hours later. The wine was poured into the glass, very dark garnet colored and frothy. Appeared thicker than it was on the entry. The entry is very smooth and silky. The blackberry nose wasn't nearly as powerful on the palate, and a note of grilled meat was there towards the end of the entry. The middle had a rather good amount of density to it, with a very good intense aged blackberry, pie spice, and and licorice. Finishes very abruptly -- the wine just falls off after about 10 seconds, but does have a bit of sediment (or perhaps tannin?) that lingers with you. I think this wine is probably sliding down the hill a bit, which is quite surprising to me because it's the first Chappellet Pritchard I've consumed (ever), and the older Non-Pritchard Cabs seem to hold up a little better than this. I expected this one to be approaching the TOP of the hill. I still think that "drink by 2014" is QUITE incorrect, and would say that 2020 is probably more appropriate. Although the staying power of Chappellet really does surprise me, this one could very well be in a bad place right now and it still could be a 2030 ager.

Took to a small tasting party. Consensus WOTN. Opened all of ten minutes before drinking. Consistent with my notes a year and a half ago. No signs of age. Lotsa black fruit. Medium body and a terrific finish. Not an over-the-top monster; it was polished, elegant, and sophisticated. Holding up well (no reason to drink right away).

Decanted for an hour. Deep purple with moderate legs. Dark fruit, black raspberry, leather and cedar in the nose. Black raspberry, black cherry, and hints of forest floor carry through to the long, full, finish. Still pretty primary. There is great presence through the palate, which is subtle, rather than muscular. While drinking well, this should continue to evolve.

Opened about 1/2 hour before drinking. Berries and mint on the nose. Berries and a hint of coffee on the palate. Medium/full body and a terrific finish. Overriding impression is elegance and sophistication. Delightful, polished wine that has a long life ahead of it.

Deep, rich and polished. Reminiscent of a fine Bordeaux. Luxurious aromas of mixed crushed berries and black raspberry mingle with wintergreen mint, sage, toffee and a touch of mineral for an altogether stunning and complex bouquet. Bright and focused black raspberry and black cherry fruit saturate the palate with absolute perfect harmony of pure fruit and sturdy tannins. Finishes with lush, lingering fruit.

Awesome. As good as advertised. A blow away Cabernet Sauvignon - big, dark, complex and tasty. Dark delicious fruit and red berries are combined with oak, spice and mouth puckering tannins. The finish goes on and on. I cellared this for 6 years and brought with us for dinner at the Capital Grill, where I had this with the bone-in Kona encrusted NY Sirloin. A sublime experience of synergy. This will last another 5 years...at least.

This was a BIG Cabernet. There is full body with plenty of tanins. This will be much better in 5-10 years. I decanted this for 2 hours and it improved over the next 2-3 hours. It could have been open all day. I prefer to wait on this on and predict a higher rating down the line. WAIT

Sublime cab. Lots of sediment. Cassis, licorice on nose. Deep dark and rich. Tannins in check while drinking with Chateaubriand. I think this is in the prime of its drinking window- I'll drink my last bottle before the end of the year.

Popped and poured. Drank over 2 hours. Dark purple. Lovely nose of dark fruit, cedar and loam. Medium bodied palate of cassis, plum, blackberry, mocha, and toasty oak. Excellent length. Pleasant acidity and sweet tannins. Beautifully balanced, elegant wine. This was my last bottle.

Decanted and allowed to sit for an hour, then consumed over 3 hours. Inky purple in color, medium-heavy weight. Dark fruits on the nose and palate, with a dusty mouthfeel and fine tanins, the wine continued to assimilate its components during the evening, and overall was an excellent wine. As much as I enojed it, this was the wine that had me drop off the Chappellet mailer when I found the Club Price of $90+ was undercut by $20 in both some local stores and on-line auctions, and the winery didn't try to apologize or make good. However, I'd put this on a value par with similarly-priced Monty's and Dalla's.

[Blue Hill, lamb] Very tight when first opened. Decanted for 2.5 hours, when it began to open and seemed to plateau. Striking fluorescent purple color. Aromas of cassis, ripe red fruit, anise. Concentrated. On the palate blackberry, cherry, chocolate, and spice. Nice structure that suggests a long life. Moderate tannins that are not fully integrated are a reminder of its youth. I knew that I was premature but could not wait. And others suggest, I will wait 5-7 yrs to open my second and last bottle. Overall fanatastic stuff that may merit a score of 96-98 in the future. 92-94

This is an excellent cab now but still needs time to age. Decanted for an hour and it got better after an hour or so after that. Deep blackberry color, almost inky. Lots of blackberry, cherry fruit comes through. Structure is excellent. Nice long finish. Lots of tannins that need time to integrate into the wine. I can not wait to drink this in five more years. I really liked this cab.
