Lunch at Table 66 (Table 66, Tras Street): Simple, but very yummy. A little hot and alcoholic at first, but a couple of hours in the decanter did this wine a world of good. Cleary new world Pinot on the nose, but very pleasant, with mushrooms, sweet orange peel and ripe, dark cherries and a little touch of earth. Sweet again on the palate, but more from glycerol and ripe fruit, rather than being candied or artificial tasting. Very yummy actually, with ripe red-currants, berries and cherries held in pretty good balance with some fresh acidity running through the mid-palate into the fruit laden finish, that also showed bits of orange peel and haw flakes and just that touch of spice. Not the most complex of wines, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Great pairing with duck confit and duck-fat fries.

APFW sale - a trio of Freeman Pinots; 3/5/2010-3/6/2010 (APFW, Kallang): I had quite forgotten that I had tried this before. This showed quite a bit better than the last time. Pleasant nose, with bright, sweetish, attractive cherry tones overlaid over a layer of funky earth notes. More earthy funk on the palate preceded simple but yummy cherry drops. Nice balance and quite a bit of elegance in the way the wine shaped up in the mouth - smooth and well-defined all the way into a decent finish showing sprinkles of herb and spice. Very, very decent new world pinot indeed. I thought the Russian River had that tad more quality and complexity, but this was drinking better on the day.

14.5%. Dark red color. Spice, clove and sour black cherry on the nose, alcohol was rather dorminant, quite in the way. On the palate, it was pleasantly round and lush, with light red fruits and sweet undertone. Silky tannins, excellent acidity, and a medium, smooth finish.

This wine has resolved nicely. Much better than last taste 18 months ago. Lovely nose of earth, baking spice, pie crust, and black cherry. Palate of juicy black cherry. Hint of raspberry. Refreshing acidity. Moderate tannins. Refreshing.

Really nice Pinot whose flavors started to open after warming up from cellar temp. Not a bright or acidic wine though it has enough structure for the near term. Its gots the cherry/strawberry but also a bit of a darker fruit element as well. Full on the palate and finishes with some tannin and spice.

APFW new world tasting. Deep red colour. Distinctive maraschino cherry on the nose, with some violets appearing at the fringe of the wine with time in the glass. Soft and plush on the palate, with silky tannins and good freshness. More cherries throughout. Just a touch stemmy and ferrous on the finish, which was decent - neither short not long. Pretty good.

Opened not decanted. Spice and clove on the nose; on the palate: strawberry, with an orange citrus profile and finish. We had this immediately after the bottle of Littorai and the Littorai was the WOTN. Considering I rated the Littorai as Excellent, this as a second wine came in Good to Very Good. No slouch of a wine by any means.

A really nice wine here, but may be pushing the envelope for pinot purists? Pinot aromas but the mouthfeel was partially syrah-esque. Cherries and a bit of sourness on the finish. I thought this was just a step up in quality from the Russian River yet found the RR more of a true pinot.

Flock 2004 Cali Pinot Tasting (Chicago, IL): Opaque ruby with a provocative nose of black cherries, smoke, cola and spice. Elegantly styled with light-to-medium body. Sour black cherries on the mid-palate through a modest finish. (4+13+16+7=90).

Served as part of a mini flight at Ferry Plaza Wine Merchants in SF. Starts out with a tennis shoe nose with a moist earth background; spice on the nose and palate but with a relatively short finish. Fair.

Just a killer bottle of pinot! The aromatics and flavors on the palate are just simply delicious. Long long finish with not even a hint of any heat.
