Impressive fruit and spice components; especially given the age (24 years) and a tremendous value (not expensive $50, but good luck finding it). My wino friends were very impressed by the very deep integrated flavors from Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Merlot & Syrah. Often under-rated and casually dismissed, this Alexis merits greater attention and respect.

Opened from a mag bought from winery this winter. Ruby colored no real bricking noted. Nice dark fruit upfront.. some wood and earth as well. Nice dark fruit profile, more elegant than muscular in its weight. Some nice mid palate secondaries, a bit of earth but mild, good finish with some grip left in it. Held up well with brisket and rest of the Passover meal. Great qpr!

After reading the WS tasting note and the other notes on CT, I had low expectations on opening my single bottle. I shouldn't have. This wine is outstanding. Rich, full-bodied wine. Tastes of berries; hint of leather. Long finish. Wow. I'm now bummed I didn't have more to enjoy.

Wow - what a revelation. For a wine that is supposed to be 88 points and past its prime (according to the Wine Spectator), this certainly shines above. Over the course of a couple hours, this wine, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, has put on weight and shows itself as much younger, definitely a revelation for wines from this challenging vintage. The nose is almost French, a bit reserved, with less fruit and more non-fruit components. On the palate this is definitely a California wine, however, with rich, red fruit - strawberry, boysenberry, blueberry - and leather, tea, hints of meat, chocolate, and a finish that goes on and on. I've had every vintage of this wine through '99, and this stands out as the best showing of any of those vintages.

Still very good, actually better than the bottle a couple of months ago. Nice cedar and leather notes. Complex wine that has aged well. Good wine from bad vintage.

Very dry red wine. Better than expected. Good example that 98 vintage is holding up well. Very enjoyable red with dark fruit flavors and interesting nose.

Liked it, big and full. A tasty red blend that went well with steak on the grill. Nothing stood out, just an enjoyable drinker.

Opened too late. After an hour decanted, it had a smooth finish, with strong tannins.
