  • 2 of 12 … decanted at 3:00 drank at 8:30. Given experience with first bottle last month I gave this a longer decant. Still very young but was more open and balanced. This bottle drank well over three hours …. Clearly will improve with age

  • 2012 Domaine Dujac Chambolle Musigny

    Cellared since release
Opened Jan 1, 2024; drank over 3 nights.
Deep ruby, with slight orange rim. Nose of red fruit, and forest floor
Black fruit initially in the mouth, good balance (acid) and integrated tannins.
To my palate, the wine was initially more Morey St Denis in character rather than a Chambolle Musigny. However, after 90 minutes of air, there was a softer, red fruit predominance and the wine developed complexity, which was apparent on the second and third nights.
This was maybe not quite as good of some of the Dujac Village wines I have enjoyed in the past, which have been so good – especially the CM Village.
Nevertheless, it was enjoyable, and I think it will get better.
If I opened one today, I would give it at least 60 minutes of air before sampling.

  • 1 of 12 decanted @ 5:30 served @ 8:00. Deep ruby core youthful rims. Bouquet didn’t really open up until serving when the clean red fruit was fully evident. Medium weight, well integrated fine tannins, silky textured pallet complimented the sweet red fruit. Persistent finish. This improved over the evening with the last sips around 10:30 were the best. Easy drinker

  • This was ok; a bit rough hewn and still big and burly; definitely not a typical Chambolle as others have noted; this is more like a hefty Morey; still good and has its charms; don't get me wrong I wouldn't turn it down if someone poured it; but I wouldn't necessarily seek it out either.

  • light red - very pretty nose of bright red cherries intermixed with some complex tertiary aromas (Asian spice, sandalwood) - full rich body of similar fruit - nice acid-fruit tannin balance yielding a smooth but still vibrant mouth feel - medium length 15-20 sec clean finish - age has treated this wine well - another 3-5 year longevity, but doubt it will get much better than this

  • Encore de la difficulté avec ce vin et avec 2012. Chambolle devrait être plus charmeur, plus tendre, alors qu’ici je trouve à la fois le vin dur et mince... c’est rare mais j’y ai trouvé des notes de café.

  • what have happened here? this bottle must be bad or something, its has a burnt rubber-nose who destroy a lot of the joy here. taste is better.

  • Un vin qui m'a paru davantage dans l'esprit de Morey que de Chambolle.
Ferme, assez puissant, bien équilibré, c'est bien fait, mais tout de même pas très charmeur pour l’appellation. 89 pts

  • Decent amount of extraction and body compared to normal Dujac without being heavy. Slight reduction. Lovely fruit, good concentration, ok length very primary. Not very chamboule, fruit is darker red and closer to Morey. Infanticide - this will probably go to sleep soon and then be better in 10-15.

  • Very light, relatively short.

  • Very similar profile to the Morey although I didn't like it quite as much, as it seemed to lack the richness of fruit of the Morey and was showing more of the cedary wood influence. That said, once it had a chance to pull itself together it had a silkiness to its texture that was probably even more refined than the Morey. And then I had another bottle of the Morey where the fruit was much more restrained and in line with the Chambolle. Go figure. Either one of these are great to have at least if you get them on sale.

  • Visit to Domaine Dujac (Morey-Saint-Denis): Quite dark; deep colour. Good fragrance with dark fruit and lacy minerals wafting out the glass. Some spices and savoury character. In the mouth, good power, concentration and strength (without over extraction) resulting from round tannins and mineral structure. Predominantly dark fruit flavours. Mouthcoating. Perhaps a little too firm on the back palate at this early stage.
