  • Chevalier Induction Dinner - This seemed flat. A subtle green note emerged on the finish and the fruit lacked both the density and the energy of other vintages we've had recently. One out of the 6 bottles was corked and the other 5 were consistent with my notes. Drinkable certainly but underwhelming in its context. Sadly, not sure there is more to see here either although the 1990 is just now hitting its stride in my opinion so perhaps there is more to come.

  • Slow oxed for 4 hours. The wine did not fully open up. The nose was not as floral as the 2000 jacque prieur musigny. It had less flowery element. I felt like the oak element in the wine did not really evolve. The tightness indicated that this wine needed at least 5 more years before it enters its drinking window. As of tonight, the Jacque Prieur was more accessible and floral. But in terms of potential, this jadot is higher. Ideally, i would give this 8-10 years for my next tasting. Potential is there but it requires patience. The wine is thicker and more powerful for its vintage. With aging, this wine couls potentially be better than Jacque Prieur musigny 2000.

  • La Paulee Gala (San Francisco CA): From some unbelievably large format (15L?) that adequately served the entire La Paulee Gala (300+ people?). Mature re cherry and raspberry aromas with some smoky elements in background. Silky textures show incredible grace and elegance. Still showing lots of acidity and energy on finish, which showed tart fruit and some enticing baking spice.

  • Thought this was super nice. Seems very plush, forgiving and 2000-ish up-front and in the mid-palate but tannins are substantial on the back. Can definitely take more time and still move up the food chain.

  • Beautiful aromas of dark fruits, earth and smoke. Rich and well balanced with great texture on the palate. Velvet in the mouth. Long finish. I liked this wine as well, if not better than the 89 DRC RSV.

  • Jadot Dinner with Marc Dupin (Knightsbridge - Northbrook IL): Floral, elegant start. Good black and red cherry on palate with moderate length. Finish shows a bit too much acid for right now, but should balance better in another few years.

  • Jadot Dinner with Marc Dupin (Knightsbridge): Full ruby red color. Full red cherry fruit on the nose with a touch of heat. Bright acidic lithe red fruit with a bit too much acidity on the finish. Nice, but disappointing in the context of these wines...

  • Stunningly beautiful wine here - absolutely complete in terms of aromatic complexity, beauty of texture, palate impression, and length, lacking only the ultimate in power and density (for Chambolle, anyway). Wonderful silky fruit with all the elements in impeccable harmony, and the finish is incredible. Rich, brooding nose with blacker fruits than I expected (the 2000 Jadot Clos de Beze I had recently sported bright red fruit), with notes of herbs and spice and a touch of the animal. My assessments are hardly definitive as this is the first time I've had a Musigny, but I have no trouble declaring Musigny to be my new favorite wine - I couldn't get this wine out of my head for five days afterwards.
