nice burgundy but nearly as good as the '93's i have been drinking lately, good acid, some spice, felt like some fruit but there was something intruding on the fruit that was hard to describe, almost a little chemically, was it faint taint?... anyway reasonably pleasurable to drink but i will be curious if the last bottle i have drinks differently

Deep and dark nose. Initially more Gevrey like, but with air picked up more elegant notes. Rich in the mouth with a balanced structure. Relatively resolved tannins for a '93. I've drunk '93 JJC 1er and grand crus with great pleasure; this wine confirms the house made great '93s.

color is mature - almost cinnamon color like an old barolo, upon opening it had a funky nose (good) and a funky palate (funky enough to be worrisome), then with 30 minutes of air it blew off and the nose was nice with mostly sweet wood and some cherry, a touch of sandalwood soap, the palate you could taste wood and cherry and a touch of sweetness, the mouthfeel was rich with enough acid to make lively, and a small amount of textured tannin... overall a very nice wine with some great components but feels like it just misses something to make it a 95 pointer, you see my mention of wood - which i don't like generally - but it wasn't overwhelming... maybe that was what caused it to just miss

This wine was served with a wonderful roasted leg of lamb. the vintage trademark of roasted fruit was evident dark red fruits. The acidity was good ok, and worked well with the dish, but i missed the elegance that i get from jj confuron's chambolle's.
