Opened about an hour prior to tasting. Cork wet almost all the way up; fill bottom of neck. Reddish brown in color; intriguing nose which is all herbs and dried fruits. Smooth finish with completely resolved tannins. Large amount of sediment. Quite lovely at age 37; an experience.

Fill bottle of neck; purchased and cellared since release. Medium light red with little browning, Complex nose of leather, garrigue, subtle red fruits. Clean and medium bodied on the palate with little evidence of its age. Lovely wine. Much better than an 85 Miguoa drunk a few months ago which was on its last legs. These mourvedre dominated Bandols age extraordinarily well.

EWG does Mourvedre (Elements Kitchen, Pasadena,Ca): Showing a lot of age on the nose though with still a hint of brett. Very clean all the way through. Just enough fruit to carry this though it is somewhat one noted. Pretty and very well balanced. This was a fav of some at the table though I think it was probably best a few years back. Very nice.

Prunes on the nose... strong dried fruit aroma. Dusty on the palate... thin and delicate. Clearly past its prime, and on the border of being undrinkable... but interesting nonetheless. A great example of drinking a wine past its time.

Sound but not entrancing. Completely clean, not nearly as decayed and Mouvedre-like as I have found in other old bottles of Tempier. Good tannins and acids, but not enough fruit left to pair with the structure. Other bottles have been better.

Fairly dark in color. Good ripe fruit. Slightly shy. In the mouth, plenty of character, but the wood seems slightly to overwhelm the fruit. Good wine, but I'd opt for drinking it now, in spite of the tannin. 5-10-14-6: 85/100.

Lovely light bodied, mahagony wine. Sweet fruit on the plalate with no gaminess or reductive flavors. Smooth to the point of going down like water.
