  • Very pleasant wine. Had at lunch with family. Great food pairing.
Old style rioja. Bodegas CVNE is one of the most traditional winemakers of spain. Very clear and ruby/brick color. Burgundy like. Medium body. Alcohol is 13%. freshness and good acidity. Ready to drink. Well balanced wine. Nose is earthy, spicy and mature berry fruits. Good finish. Gives lots of pleasure! These days you can hardly find this type of wine, because parker imposed another tendency (fruit bombs) for the market, and, besides, wine spectator also, generally, dont use to rate spanish wines very well. Its a lovely piece. Just good, fresh, balanced and tasty. Everything is in the right place here. Indicated for old traditional Rioja lovers. Everybody should try CVNE s wines, like vina real and imperial (king juan carlos favourite wine). Besides, theres so many other great spanish rioja producers such as Lopez de Heredia tondonia, La RIoja Alta, Bodegas Muga, etc.
Those are all wines to buy in cases! I really recommend it!

  • Nice in an uncomplicated, refreshing way. Not really a wine to drink young, and I guess another decade or two would help here.

  • Quite a burgundian nose with some sweet vanilla spice too. Damson fruit with cherry, vanilla, good acidity on the finish and a silky to almost velvety texture. Very typical. Good. **1/2 to ***
