2005 Oregon Pinot review (Lou's): I added this at the end. A bit past prime IMO but fun. Orange/iced tea color. The nose has apricots but also a bit of a chemical note that was distracting. On the palate, sweet but not cloying. Oranges. Very new world in that it is more about fruit than acidity. Tasty and fun if not profound.
Dinner with Friends (Mawby, Chidaine, Pinson, Desaunay-Bissey, Nerthe, Maybach, Sineann): Golden/brown in color. The nose had me worried as it had a kind of chemical quality to it (Pine-sol?). On the palate though, this is delicious. Lychee, sugar coated oranges and a bit of a crunchy leaves quality. This is slightly sweet with nice acidity. In know it is supposed to be a "Vin Santo" in style, but I found it more like an Alsatian VT. Went well with the Gingerbread pear cake.
