This remains a rather dark and brooding wine that would best be consumed with food. Licorice, plum, and a damp wood aroma come through on the nose. The palate comes across with some red fruits along with tar, damp earth, and oak. Acidity could definitely be higher and the finish could be longer. Still, this shows well at ten years from vintage.

A LastbottleWines.com purchase. Candied red fruits, licorice, spice, earth. Screaming deal for $17. Started drinking with about a 2 hour decant and it just got better from there. Drink or hold. There's plenty of life left in this little gem.

Rich complex combination of fruit, dark cherry, strawberry, plum, herbs and wood, with spice notes and smooth texture. Still has structure to spare. No need to wait to enjoy this beauty however.

Very much enjoyed this. I have no formal notes, and this was consumed awhile ago, but I remember that it was heaven with pizza, and opened nicely over several days. It was not especially "hedonistic" and had an intensity that went best with food.

Rather modern, but still very delicious nose with liquorice, sweets, and spices. Mouth filling impressions of black fruit, balanced out by refreshing citrus-like acidity, spicy wood tones (already well integrated), liquorice, chocolate. Just plain delicious, balanced and drinking great right now. Barbera rules; certainly at about 25 euro!

Showing well but the fruit is definitely fading. Would suggest drinking up. A nice wine for sure.
