Monthly Tasting Group HWS #087; Burgundy: Vosne Romanée and Clos Vougeot. (By VD): Earthy bouquet with dark cherries and red berries, herbs and spices, licorice, vanilla and some caramel. On the palate dark and red berries and plums, some earth and a bit herbaceous. Good acidity and soft, slightly drying tannin. Nevertheless a beautiful wine.

The new american owners have apparantly destroyed this old fine winery. This wine is all mashed strawberries without any structure and complexity. Clearly heat damaged with residual sugar and notes of port wine.

Tasted October 21, 2006 at a blind tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Balloon Magnum glass. Rose color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of minerals, licorice and black berries. Flavors of red berries, cherries and a little brown spice. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Hold. My guess is this is the Romanee that just a skosh brought.

Nose of strawberry, cherry, fragrances.
In mouth seductive, good attack, and enough acidity. However, the finish is a little bit dry.

Excellent velvet dark cherry, somewhat spicy flavor. A nose of cherry and blackberry. A superb value.
