Lovely drinking at the moment. Good balance of fruit and secondary notes coming through. Oak still present. Cassis, chocolate on the palate. Tannins still present. Suspect this will keep going a couple more years.
Tasted blind: Garnet in color. Nose of berries and coffee. Actually the wine had a very rich and multilayered nose. But once it hits the taste but the wine can not deliver what one would expect, it is quite short, not really balanced and has some dry tannins. On the positive side there is a nice sweetness of ripe berries and coffee. One would not really expect a Ribera del Duero. Overall a nice wine but a few years past its peak.
En nariz intensidad media/alta. Notas cerezas, ciruelas, licorosas. Taninos suaves, arropados por una muy buena acidez. Sabroso y con postgusto largo que deja recuerdos de chocolate y ligeras notas a tabaco. Agradable sorpresa por los comentarios anteriores poco favorables.
Ruby color with slightly garnet rim. Quite pronounce nose of dried flowers, elegant cherry, coconut, spices. Palate is relatively weak, mainly red fruit, and fruit intensity increased a little after 1.5hr, and the length is medium with simple fruit finish.
Wow, wasn't expecting this to be too great and well passed its limit. Whilst is for sure maybe a little past its peak, it is drinking quite nice. Still good colour, soft & delicate tannins, chocolate, cassis, black currant. Nice wine for a Wednesday with a Moroccan chicken curry and oh nearly forget a wedding anniversary!
Purple core with light edges. A Seductive aged scents, cherry, leather, spice, and funk. There is harmony with oak in a much softer fruit forward style. The mouth feel is much less extracted than other vintages I have had. Overall the wine is drinking great now and I would not hold much longer.
I didn't think that this was way over the hill already, but it has lost its umpf. Still had a bit of tannin when first opened -- which quickly faded. Cherry with slight notes of vanilla. Has not gained in complexity and was a little thin. Still a decent drink but pop it now.
was surprised by this. This is the 5th bottle i have tasted from a case and the wine had significantly improved from 6 months ago when I tasted it. The nose has hints of cherry with an element of tertiary flavours. Fully integrated now with a medium length on the palate but a lovely quality and balance about it. I am going to open up another bottle in a month or so to see is this was a fluke.
Tuscany Cafe Closing Dinner (Tuscany Cafe, Toronto, Canada): Medium-dark ruby colour. Aromas of cranberry and currant. Medium-bodied, really fresh, with currant and rhubarb notes on the palate. Short-moderate finish, with rhubarb, currant, and raspberry. It's a little thin in the middle, otherwise it would merit a 90+.
Low-key tasting of Tempranillo (Tinto etc.) (Seattle, WA): This was quite disappointing at first showing a cherry, Grenache-like nose but fairly simple and monolithic flavors. However with food and 30 minutes of air this improved (I initially scored it at 83 points) to show a more Rhone-like nose with pine resin, and lifted notes of raspberry. The palate gained some weight and some complexity, but this never really revealed much that was terribly exciting.
