Another bottle from the group that wasn’t stored well. Held up very well all thing considered. Coffee and ripe plum nose. Umami, jam and coffee grounds on palate. Leather texture. Long finish.

Strong showing for this Howell Mountain product. Drank after about a 30 minute decant. Strong fruit with good tannins. Began to fade after a couple of hours, but still enjoyable at 12 years.

Opaque deep purple with black fruits on the nose. Finish is now smooth with softer tannins than previous tastings. PNP so maybe it will improve with a little time and air.

Glad to have received as a gift. Certainly not worth the $77 average paid. More like a solid $30-40. Had a very nice nose and flavor profile, but lost it on the mouth feel and finish.

First night a bit high toned with red mountain fruits. Deepened and broadened its flavors on Day #2. Still has nice acids and some edgy tannins that compliment food.Long finish.

Good nose and flavors of brambly fruit and dried leaves. Good body, smooth, balanced, drinking very well. Medium tannins- I enjoyed this bottle very much.

Huge nose of currant, blackberry, smoke and a hint of dust and bell pepper. Very fruit forward for a Howell Mountain wine. Good structure, complex, dense dark fruit and an expressive finish, a little bit of heat though on the back end. Ended up pairing it with spicey crabcake at the restaurant we brought it to and it worked out nicely.

PnP. This impressed, not only for its balance and enjoyability, but for its structure, too. Cool, clean mountain fruit with plenty of herbs, red currants, sweet tobacco leaf and juicy red berries. A bit of menthol, some red floral and toasty oak make appearances, but they seem to come and go at their own pleasure. I'm not a fan at upwards of $65, but this is inarguably a well-crafted wine and a solid value at anything less than $50. Smooth stylish tannins and understated acidity add to the effort. I withhold recommendation simply because of it's price point (approx $75), but if the cost is inconsequential, you're in for a very nice drink, with plenty of elegance and finesse. Drink thru 2020, 14.4% abv.

I wanted a nice Cab with my steak, so we popped & poured this. Closed nose, tight on the palette, rough tannins. Stopped drinking it an decanted an hour before putting back in the bottle. Jump ahead a day. Decanted another couple hours & drank. Wow! What a difference. Wonderful berry aromas. Plum, cherry, chocolate flavors. Tannins smoothed out significantly. Classic balance. This wine defines what I love about a good Napa Cab.

Pretty traditional in style, not over-ripe, too sweet or jammy, some dryness, which I like.

Smooth tannins. Not over the top. Decanted for a few hours and the aromatics really didn't last as long as I thought they should.
