Very impressive B'day wine - nose wonderfully open, truffles, hoisin, roses. Not a bit of tiredness and body held well together, wine drank well for 2 hours. Still great energy.

Musky, brick colored, lighter coloring at top Nose: Otherworldly, grave-yard, intense terroir, pear, ash, licorice, hints of tar; carmel apple Palate of integrated but faded fruits; light bodied but somehow still dense; highly persistent, fruits of apricot and plums; remarkably fresh but lacks boldness 15 Minutes: Similar nose; palate moves to tarter fruits of pear and apple; more acidic with hints of grapefruit 30 minutes: Notes of sous-bois, forest fruit, even cherry and intermittent sudden animal hide Palate fruit-filled, cherry, plum, almost chewy in the mouth, full, long-lived, hints of sweetness even emerging; middle aged authority 1 Hour: Fully integrated nose with all aromas from before but notes of fruit, aged and partially dried, now more dominant Powerful, full, substantive, dense; aged fruit palate; full and lingering; somewhat velvety; aged terroir; hints of nobility 1.5 Hours: Much as before; more powerfully pleasant and engaging from one hour mark onwards 2.5 Hours: Intense port notes, animal hide, leather, urine, mushroom, ancient damp stone; dark nobility, substance, density, persistence; the moving beyond

Burg Dinner with Friends...and LaTache (RPM Italian - Chicago IL): Good color and fill, cork was 1/2 cm depressed and fell into the bottle in the course of attempting its removal. Sensational aromas of sweet baking spice with lingering red fruit just behind well cooked mushrooms. Very pristine flavors were surprisingly fresh for the vintage, with forest/mushroom character slightly more prominent vs remaining fruit, all with classically Vosne spice. Staying very good for several hours.

Christmas Icons Sampling (The Sampler, London): CAnt really rate this wine. It feels old and past its peak and not sure of the original quality of the bottle. More face value than drink value
