Clear light ruby/garnet. Clean on the nose with light intensity leather, tobacco, a bit of menthol and very slight dark fruit. Dry, medium acidity and almost undiscernible tannins. Medium (-) body. Pretty much replicated what was picked up on the nose. Initially a bit of blood and iron but that went away. Flavours intensified a bit with about 30 mins air time. Pleasant.

Can't really say there was bricking so much as the entire wine had taken on that orange hue, and the wine was rather light in color. But it was not dead, which was enough to make me happy. Smooth, light bodied, mostly just leather and tobacco left in this baby.

Bordeaux Tasting ("Chateau McClure Roberts", Philadelphia PA): orange rim, but looks surprisingly youthful at the core. nose of leather, shoe polish, tobacco. developed somewhat unpleasant rubber notes as it opened up. tobacco most evident on the palate, with a short, sweet finish. A pleasant surprise.

Survey of Bordeaux (Our House -- Philadelphia): Bricking. See through. Surprisingly nice nose. Secondaries coming through. Leather, tobacco, tar and a touch of spice. There may be some dark fruit in there but it is hard to tell. The palate is relatively flat and sweet. Medium finish. This did not show well in a second taste later in the night in a makeshift Pontet Canet vertical flight. All in all, a surprise, especially on the nose. Drink 'em if you've got 'em.

Mature and expressive bouquet with still some cassis and good oak. Still powerful and some cassis, but the old age acidity is starting to take over. It is now at this age, that the vintage is showing; the wine is not extremely full bodied. Altogether the wine is in perfect harmony. Drink NOW!

Dark carmine. Complex and powerful bouquet with cassis, leather, cigar box, lead pencil and good oak. Juicy, cassis, liquorice. Full bodied with a lot of nuances. This wine is a beautiful combination of power and finesse and is at the summit of its maturity stage.
