Decanted for 30 minutes. Very aromatic and has that new world pinot smell. Sour cherries on the palate. After an hour the taste and smell started to disappear. Fruit is struggling to come back but I think its beyond its prime. Too bad...this would have been a strong 93.

Drank at the CWM. Took awhile to open up. At first we thought this california pinot noir was done..almost no fruit left. We took a couple sips and set it down. Revisited it several minutes later. The fruit was trying to come out but just wasn't happening. We let it sit there for another 20 minutes and surprisingly it started to show. More fruit on the nose. The menthol/anise cigarette smell dissipated to show bright red fruits. On the palate you could taste some muted cherries some oak. Certainly a little past it's prime but enjoyable right now. I gave it a 91 out of respect. Patz and Hall pinots are great. I waited too long on this one. I'm not waiting too much longer to drink my last bottle. We think this is a good showing of drinkability of some California Pinot noirs. Drink them within 5 years of bottling to experience their potential.

First night(Saturday) popped and poured: Ruby red, medium-full bodied. Bright cherry fruit, raspberry, touch of pine. Very fruit-forward. Next weekend(Friday) after vacuum storage in refrigerator: Medium bodied. Dark cherry, but muted fruit. Anise overwhelms, with potting soil and evergreen. Likely best somewhere in the middle. Recommend decant.

Brick red, medium to full-bodied (closer to full). Ranier cherry, pine, potting soil. Touch of heat on back end, that dissipates with air. A flamboyant hussy of a pinot. Drink now, as tannins soft, structure fading.

Amazing fruit, cherry on the nose and pallet, continues to improve over two hours. Wonder what it would have been like the next day, but alas, it didn't make it.

I find the Chenoweth Ranch bottling to be perhaps my favorite of the 2004's from Patz & Hall. Not overly sweet, the wine is packed with flavor. The nose was almost of framboise with nutmeg, subtle earth, and watermellon jolly rancher. Upon tasting the flavors started to spread out into layers of strawberry watermellon, maple, and finishing with stone, and a finessed smooth finish. This is a rich bottle that is a well rounded. Gotta find more of this!

Tasted at Pinot Forum highlighting back vintages of RRV. Sweet, aged nose, burnt sugar, stewed raspberry. Drink up if you have some.

Good color, nose of cherries, medium bodied. Hot, too much alcohol for the weight of the wine. Maybe needed time. Will decant next bottle.
