Eye: garnet color, slight brownish tiny. Nose: herbal, red fruit but muted, earthy. Palate: slightly flat, fruit emerged but only after breathing in decanter further. Still a nice wine with good structure but not as robust as last tasting.

This bottle was basically two different wines. On the first night I noticed a wonderful fresh grape taste reminiscent of plucking fruit from the vine while visiting the vineyard in Montalcino. Excellent herbal aromas of basil and tarragon with a little mineral quality. A little tartness noted, but not distracting. As this was a 1.5L bottle we had ample for night two. The grape - like taste had transformed to currant, plum, and anise. A rich coco and leather aroma was present along with the same tarragon.

Great, classic in style, not overly complex just honest and pure Sangiovese made in the old school method. Color: Deep red core with ruby red edges Nose: Dried, though fresh berry aromatics, earthy minerality, and older, aged aroma of leather and spice Palate: Great mid-palate, medium weight, tannins are fine grained, acidity is clean and fresh, good length.

Every once in a while I taste a surprisingly good wine. This is one of them. Why surprising? Because 2000 was not a very good vintage in Montalicino. Producing mainly early drinkers, with only a dozen or so producers making a riserva. I remember I bought this wine because it seemed a rarity to me!
But more on the wine itself: It was open for business immediately after popping the cork. The bottle was consumed over 6 hours. After about 4 hours it started to show its full potential. Deep ruby color with no sign of amber yet. Full aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry some leather and tar and hints of licorice and dried herbs. Following trough full bodied and lively with mouth coating, smooth, tannins, ripe fruit and some fresh acidity. The finish is long and slightly drying. This wine is smooth and balanced and it has the structure to develop for some time to come. Drink now - 2015.
Just a small warning: there was quite a bit of sediment in my bottle, be sure you put the bottle upright some time before consumption.

Very nice bottle. Classic Brunello nose and palate, quite smooth but still a bit tannic/tart at the finish. Earthy and very "old world" in taste and feel. Still lots of time left for this wine.

Nose of cocoa and fruit. Wonderful red fruits (cherry), great oak. Silky yet bold, great mouth feel. Somewhat jammy, but with nice mineral touchgravel, minerals, and maybe a touch of iron. Great acids. Incredibly well balanced. opened 3 hours before drinking and was still a little tight. will drink well for the next 5-10 years.

Medium-dark ruby colour with garnet flecks. Aromas of black plums, blackcurrant, black cherry, licorice, earth. Full-bodied, tannic, more layers of complexity than the other wines. Blackberry, blackcurrant, black plums, black cherry, sottobosco, on the palate. Moderate-long finish, 35-40s, with black plums, black cherry. Tannins coat the mouth. Very nice.

Tannins mellowed away...no over the top boldness expected from a brunello. But very enjoyable.

An evening with Mrs. Sunshines husbond... (Søerne): Dark, rich, notes of chocolate, very dense, quite soft; goût Americain, nice enough at that

still drinking well; plenty of fine sediment, so needs a decant and filter; a bit tannic and tart on the finish
