Pale garnet, intense nose, farmyard, barnyard, cigar box, jammy black fruit. On the palate good kick, jammy fruits, but good medium high acidity. Beautiful integrated tannins. Drinks amazing after 22 years!

color of deep crimson, this wine is very opaque. the nose draws you in with anise, licorice, bay leaf all in very full and clear presence. the palate offers the same and also garrigue, very savoury herbal flavors of white pepper. med- acid, very little tannin. decanted and served 2.5 hours later, this was in a nice place.

Unbelievable strong plum, dark berries and dried fruits on the nose. Very complex. Cherry, tabacco and some spices on the palate. Good depth and texture. Soft and well integrated tannins. Long aftertaste. Great Chateauneuf which is on it's peak now.

Gorgeous wine at its apogee. Way better than my last note. It is time to drink this wine. This was tasted against 25 other Rhones and was in the top 5. My last bottle.

Deep red on colour, only hints of ruby on there rim. Very complex nose where the is plums, dried fruits coming trough, some oak, mint and a nice touch of spices; pepper in particular. Great complex fruit, full bodied, the fruit follows through. Great long finish with mature fruits and hints of spices. Soft tanins and terrific acidity to match the great fruit.
This wine is at a great state now, but will hold. Well worth the wait!!!

Nice to have an aged Chateauneuf that is not too expansive. Not too much alive, a bit hot at the end, sweet and meaty. Paired well with Turkey and cranberry sauce.

Plumme, kirsebær, sigar, noe grønn pepper, solbær, eik integrert og mocca på nesen. Full kropp med dybde og god tekstur. Konsentrert. Avrundede og integrerte tanniner. Lang ettersmak.

Marked improvement over last year’s bottle. Tonight was outstanding. Terrific nose of cherries, tobacco and earth. Peppery and spicy on the palate with a long finish.

GoP 4.8 - Wines of Chateauneuf-du-Pape (with a little detour) (Extra Space, Singapore): Most modernly styled of the night, not what I am used too with CdP, but very nice. I found this amazingly young tasting for a 13-year-old CdP. Tons of buttery oak on the nose at first, followed up by coffee, chocolate, meat, thorn bush, plum, dark cherry, pepper and a distinct mintiness, all unfolding one after another. Lovely nose, but the palate did not quite match up. Dense, almost a little jammy, with licorice and spice dominating. It had great concentration, but I felt that the fruit was a little locked up, hidden under all that dense licorice flavour. I would probably have preferred a bit more freshness as well. There are still loads of mouth-coating tannins, and this wine certainly has very good stuffing - I think it could really do with even more bottle age and good long decant. It should shine after that.

Seattle Round 2: Rhone vs. Rhone Ranger (Seattle, WA): This has a gorgeous nose with lots of cherry, plum, leather, fur, sweat, and yes, even a little bit if poo. Complex nose that is the best part of this wine. The palate is medium weight and rustic. Typical of the '95 vintage. The tannins have softened a little bit but they are still firm and angular. Good acidity with some dark fruits on the finish.

Lovely, slightly mature color. Loamy, mineral nose, with a touch of soy sauce and barnyard funk. Palate shows pepper, dark fruit, good balance, with acidity that made for a nice pairing with pizza. Sweet, almost caramelized, fruity finish. Quite a pleasant aged Rhone. Probably in a prime drinking window right now.

This wine is still a monster. The Mourvedre in this wine gives it a strong earthy element with very firm tannins. This wine will benefit from a few more years in the cellar.

The color is a brilliant, dark ruby red. The nose has moderate intensity, is complex and interesting. I pick up hints of black cherry, raspberry, leather, and black berry. The palate is medium weight and well structured. The tannins are smooth and the acidity is lively. The finish is spicy with some garrigue. Seamless and smooth. Long, clean, and persistent. Maybe it is the food or company but I am really digging this wine. 50 + 5 + 13 + 18 + 9

From magnum, on train from Paris to Nimes, France. Blackberry and spicy leather notes on the aroma, slightly earthy. Lovely, soft plum and toasty black fruit. The finish is gentle and long, with good grip and high acidity.

Based on a group rating - this needs a bit of air to blow off the funk; this is a very good wine that is likely in its prime or on the back end
This was a lot of secondary flavors with a melange of dark fruit and some barnyard to it. Still very good

In need of a decant to open this up a little...but it doesn't need long. Very enjoyable, but not much "pop" left to it.

Dark dense berries. Soya sauce. Umami. Rosemary & thyme. Hint of leafiness. Nose is juicier and riper than palette.

Slight cork taint made this unpleasant. Tannins are a bit firm. Try again later in 2007.
