A complex nose of roasted meat, mixed red and black fruit and smoke. Mature palate, subtle notes of brambly fruit which picked up weight with some air time. Secondary notes of dry herbs, coffee and some oxidative Madeira like flavors. This is not going to improve, drink up!

On the nose, red fruits, raw meat, lavendar and pepper. On the palate, medium bodied with plum, dark cherries, raw meat and pepper, finishing a little shorter and more tannic than I would prefer. This one should have been decanted longer, or allowed to sleep for a long time.

Jammy black fruit, pepper, herbs, olives and tomatoes. The palate experiences the perfect blend of suave and wild, rustic elements. Drink this on the young side.

The Kristial gets its name from the Northeastern section of the CdP appellation called Cristia where the grapes for this wine are grown. Approximately 420 cases of this wine are made. It is 95% Grenache. This medium bodied wine had a dark reddish purple color. We drank it side by side with the 1998 Fontodi Syrah and I think we all agreed that despite being a good wine, it paled in comparison. It had sweet fruit with notes of blackberry, raw meat and plum and black pepper on the finish. It had a chewy texture with soft tannins. The finish was not as long as I had hoped. I give it 89-90 points.
