(SYP) PNP A lovely nose of dried blueberries and dates, integrated oak and a hint of herbs. Good sweetness at its core with dusty tannins and a dry, warm finish.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of talc, leather, plum, currants and wet stones. Flavors of berries, raspberries and red cherries. Tangy acidity, integrated tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink over the short term.

Pop and pour. Color is a deep, dark purple core to a red rim defying its age. Nose is powerful and expressive with plum and dark cherry fruit with a mix of smoke and pine. Initially a slight bit austere the wine comes fully alive after 30 minutes to reveal classic Napa Cabernet flavors of dark cherry and plum, with additional hint of green pepper. The wine is very fresh and has a nice concentration without being heavy in the mouth. The finish has a nice lift of acid to keep it enjoyable to drink over the course of the meal. I wish they still made them like this! Paired brilliantly with Prime short rib of beef.

Youthful look with initially shy aromas that open up to sweet cherry and wood smoke. This wine gains weight in the glass, going from a decidedly austere style to more heft with currant, cooking herbs, mint, pine, and a pleasant, medium-length, smokey finish. A very nice wine, well structured, balanced, and drinking at its peak.
