Ridiculously good, secondary with hitting just a bit of tertiary magic. Classic Burgundian in style with obvious extract and gobs of great material- sous bois, beef stock/meat juices, etc. Slightly chewy tannins. Hitting a sweet spot, for sure and no rush.

This has lost more than a tad of its youthful exuberance; rich secondary fruit in gutsy Gevrey style and just starting to show tertiary notes; a touch of attractive barnyard, this has smoothed and balanced out into a gorgeous wine. Loads of life still in it. Xavier94 guessed “gran cru” so I think he liked it. 93+

Mid red, medium bodied good length and mouthfeel. It is well balanced and gentle and though clearly a wine of pedigree it does lack that bit of character and is just a bit one dimensional and predictable. Maybe it will get more complex with age but 19 years should have shown more if that was to be the case.

This was an especially youthful bottle, tasting partner guessed it to be an ‘05. Barely secondary nose of rich red fruit, exotic teas, cranberries, soil- inflected, tree bark, hints of blood orange.
Purity and power still there on nose and palate; muscular structure on this bottle leaves it a bit “clenched” right now. Plenty of guts to it, would love to be able to dial it ahead 25 years, I bet it would be gorgeous (and it certainly has what it takes to get there). Day 2: shockingly nice softened nose of raspberries and violets, unclenched, balanced. Yum! Patience Grasshopper.

15 year old Burg that rewarded aging. Earthy, smoky nose with floral notes. Nicely balanced flavors: gravel, small red berries (pomegranate?) with a hint of soy, dried meats. A treat!

Darkly colored with slightest clear rim; very deep and rich fruited; just starting secondary notes with beetroot and licorice; real purity and power here. Great showing for village level wine!

Totally yum! Just starting it's journey of drinkability. A long life ahead I have no doubt. A healthy dark ruby red with a brick rim. Nose of Pinot noir, sous bois, lovely floral component that compliments the leafy forest floor element. It smells like a treat will be forthcoming when I taste. There is no disappointment in my anticipation. The wine flows across the tongue coating the mouth with dark cherry fruit and earthy soft tannins. The flavor spreads across the tongue with a sweet silky glycerine texture that only the pinot grape can provide. The acid is balanced and carries the earthy sweet fruit for a lengthy 30 second ride around the mouth after swallow. The integration of all the elements is very balanced. The few years this wine had to sleep did it well, and the experience showed quite well that this is why I age my wine.

Spicy dark cherry menthol nose. On the palate, there is dark stone fruit, austere Gevrey earth, requisite acid, and sawdust. This is in a good place now. Not particularly complex but certainly quite Gevrey in character.

Very nice, the Gevrey bite went away and gave room for an astonishing complex and rounded village. Nearly Fine and can live for another two to three years.

Needs decanting to really open up. Nose of black fruit and chocolat. Full sweet taste with raspberry, chocolat and spices. Smooth without any oxidative tones. Long finish.

Bought on release. ½ bottle, splash decant, at cellar temperature. Very intense nose of petroleum, raspberry and smoke. On the palate, nice balance with moderate fruit and strong tannins. Can taste the granite-like a light Cote Rotie. Over the next hour, the nose mellows somewhat, but the palate integrates. Becomes very smooth and long for a village wine. Excellent value and highly recommended. Alas my only bottle.

Found this on a resto wine list for $100. Not bad price considering this was in SF. Enjoyed the young Pinot with mesquite grilled smoked kurobuta pork chop mashed yams & cherry-apple compôte. Pinot funk with dark cherry and a nice finish. Wish I could find it available for the suggested $39 retail. I would cellar a few.

Not quite as special as previous bottle but still much left in the tank yet. Village '02s are beginning to shine but no hurry needed to drink them up.

his was lovely. nuanced spice on the nose, long strawberry herbed palate. Light enough to fair with both scallops and heartier meat dishes.
