not blind This was a perfect bottle. No premox, close to his peak. Fresh, some nuts and lemon peel. Oak well integrated, no popcorn. Elegant. Beautuful classic White Burgundy. 95-96

PnP. Opened after 20 min in the glass. Complex, a bit shy aroma of white flowers, fruit and nutty. The palate is integrated fruit, flower with nice acidity. Medium finishing. Not really open for our 45 min drinking period. Maybe it could take more time in the glass but overall not very powerful as expected for 2005 vintage

Instantly aromatic, with fruity, floral, toasty, and reductive aromas. Becomes slightly spicy. Palate feels round but with balancing acidity. Citrus, mineral, and medium-plus finish. Some of the matchstick comes through on the palate. Still feels young. Takes on size in the glass.

Flavors build for a while. While still having a great deal of elegance and purity. Worth saving for 12 years. Other one save for a special occasion over next 5 years.

Tasted blind, I was told this was open for several hours before we started drinking. The medium- intensity nose put forth vanilla, hazel nuts, and white stone.
In the mouth, this wine was ripe and rich with nice balance and good length.
To my mind, this wine was still clearly way too young. It was a touch oaky but in a pleasant way. I felt this oakiness was likely to integrate in as the other flavors develop. I would not touch one of these for 5-10 years as long as the color in the bottle looks light. However, I have been told there is bottle variation. This bottle was likely to pick up a couple points.

Big nose of sulfurous funk, and not an attractive matchstick form, blows off only reluctantly to reveal orchard fruit, orange peel, orange blossom. Sharp. Medium-light body. Kinda disjoint tonight.

This was an epic wine: powerful, elegant and delicious. Oak is well integrated, perfect acidity, some exotic fruits but the salinity is dominating, after 2 hours of decantation it Shows his Beauty but two hours later the wine was much more impressive. So dense and concentrated but still fine. some hazelnuts in the aftertaste. the finish was pure and juicy. For me starting to reach his Peak, but iw will be fun at least over the next 10 years. A friend of mine told me of cork Problems. lucky me not this one 96-97

This was a second bottle of this wine and certainly as enjoyable as the first. Green apple, lemon, almond and mineral notes. Very intense flavours yet remain light with great balance on the palate. Long finish.

Wine clear & straw colored. The legs are medium. It smells like grapefruit and verbena. The wine has round texture with a chewy brioche quality. While over a decade old it is fresh and clean with not a hint of premox which has been the case with some of the some Leflaive PM's of the 2005 vintage.

This is probably the best Folatieres I ever had. Green apple, yellow plum and almond; nice mineral note too. Very intense flavour and gained more balance on the palate as the night went on. Long finish. Very enjoyable now.

Domaine Leflaive Masterclass with James Handford MW (Handford Wines, London): Toasty oak feel on the nose. Fuller on the nose and palate than the Clavoillons and felt like a class higher. Lots of depth and expression here, complexity. More concentrated. Lovely mineral edge and this has longevity written all over it. On the day this was our favourite wine of the master class. We can go on and on about it but this was simply stunning. 94 easy

Was excited to open this as I had not had an 05 Leflaive in a while. The wine was not corked but very advanced. Too nutty and the finish had a decent amount of brett on it. The wine quickly disappeared in the mouth. Very little finish. Where did the acidity go? Will open another and see.

Pale/medium lemon. Nose is fresh, with sesame seed to the fore, some lemon and pear and a touch of soil. Medium/full bodied, generous if not quite plump, sesame seed again dominates, some pear and soil, fresh acidity and a good length finish. Nice enough but not particularly complex or exciting. Drink now.

Pale/medium straw/gold. Nose is discreet, floral, with a touch of pear and sesame seed, notes of soil. Palate is medium/full bodied, similar flavours to the nose, nice weight in the mouth, plenty of depth, just enough balancing acidity carrying a sweet pear fruited finish. Subtle, restrained and complex if lacking a touch of zest and excitement. Very nice but not sure it is worth the tariff.

Medium straw/gold. Nose shows tropical fruit, sesame seed and creamy vanilla. Palate is quite full bodied with rich, creamy pear fruit on the initial attack, sesame seed, good acidity coming through on the mid-palate and carrying a lingering finish with tropical fruit and creamy vanilla notes. Enjoyable but the oak character on this still a touch prominent for me.

Citrus fruits, roasted rice, not sweet pear, smell of lilac, easy vanille, good integrated wood, and living? acidity, give a intensive, nearly mouth-filling,good structured white Leflaive with long aftertaste. for me with "why is the glass ever empty factor"

The wine is rich, even Leflaive does not escape the vintage, but here is no sign of premox; buttery, creamy, a little bit oaky, with the acidity and minerality present, but in the background for now. Improving in the glass, it is certainly a wine to follow, but I am not sure, where it will go. This night, however, it was great. With AD at Union Square Café, NYC.

Advanced appearance - medium gold. Nose shows ripe pear fruit, butter, hint of sesame seed. Palate is medium/full bodied, rounded and soft, with ripe pear fruit, butter, hint of sesame seed but oak is very well integrated, quite full and generous with moderate acidity and hints of honey on the good length finish. A very nice drink but somewhat (not to say worryingly) advanced.

Winter's Weakening Death Grip: This proved to be a bit perplexing. Big, California-esque nose of ripe citrus, butter, oak and vanilla (no Leflaive smoke/match stick?). In the mouth this seemed big with expressive fruit, great balance (just barely enough acidity), great weight (almost full-bodied) and a great long finish. As much as I liked this, it has to be considered a bit disappointing given the lack of Leflaive-ness.

This will have a nice future but it definitely needs time to come together. It's ripe, the minerality is hidden and there is almost too much of the Leflaive "match stick". I think the elements are there for a good wine but it clearly needs time.

From Magnum. Totally awesome. Without tasting the Grand Cru's alongside as reference, I would have put this in the same league this night. I can't get over how incredible the 05 Leflaive's are from top down. This quickly brought back memories of the 05 Chevy consumed a month prior and while that sets the bar significantly higher, this is no slouch. The bright pure fruit cries for it to be consumed quickly. The texture is a diamond sharp cut of brilliance. For it's level, wow.
