Unfortunately this bottle was past its prime. The fruit had faded entirely and the nose and palate showed mostly oxidative notes. Some lovely spiciness showed through, but the finish was quicker than I expected. NR.

Agree with tinybubbles - a nice wine that was outclassed by the 1966 of the same wine. The nose is pretty, broad and rich, but a bit astringent. Very classy wine, but showing a bit muddled tonight.

Drouhin cellar. As good as old Burg gets. Color is browning but absolutely clear. Baking spice aromatics. Sweet and savory palate with astonishing lift and purity. Ethereal.

Exotically textured, pure, ripe, sensuous, sweet, cherries and plums were at the wines beck and call. Medium bodied, elegant and refined, there was a freshness and purity of red fruits you could not help being seduced by. Tea with red, orange brick in its hue, the combination of flowers, spice, earth and kirsch was a knockout!

Surprisingly good showing for the vintage. Delicate filagreed spice nose. Purple fruit. Great bottle, certainly the best condition of those I have encountered.

Rare Burgundy Dinner - 1919, 1923, 1928, 1929, 1937, 1947 and more! (Sydney, Australia): Very earthy nose, it is smoky with mulch and an edge to it that is port like. The palate for me was showing less obvious aged character, it has a sense of structure and fruit rather than either being obvious. Drinkable but probably not a bottle in great condition and certainly not meeting the lofty domaine reputation.

Very good breadth to the palate. Good clarity here. Less depth than the '66 served alongside.

Dark and soil-based. More giving on the palate than the nose with this bottle.

Quite dark. Denser than expected. Lacked much of a spice or floral component, but attractive soil notes on this bottle.

Young bottle. Darker but not as deep or expressive as the '85
